When the aircon (and even when aircon is turned off and normal air blows through) is on cold, it runs fine. As soon as it comes off the blue section and into the white or red, it blows a white smoke out the vents, it is a toxic smelling smoke.
Mechanic didnt know what it was and sent me to aircon bloke who also doesnt know but did a pressure test today which came back fine. Any ideas? it is a commodore vt. cheers, Jo

There hasnt been a loss in coolant. He did mention the heater core prior to booking it in for a pressure test. No fluid on the driver side floor either.

Its is probably the heater matrix leaking steamy water in the car. The heater matrix is a small radiator that produces the heat and is blown in by the fan. When you turn the heat off it stops the water being pumped into the matrix. Check to see if you have any drips of water leaking into the footwell. You can put Rad Weld into the coolant to try to seal it. If that doesnt work then you need a new matrix which involves taking the whole dashboard out.

He knows, he just didn't want to do the work. You have a leak in the heater core and it needs to be replaced. You need to get this fixed so that you are not breathing this polluted air. Don't put it off either. Have you noticed that you are always low on coolant? Be sure to check it, since you have a leak.
