I'm looking at getting a Volvo wagon. Down here in the southeast, they are a rare breed. Today a 2001 V70 came up for sale locally. It has the tubo engine, but I don't know if it is the R model. The car has 91,000 miles and looks to be in good shape (the only physical defect is that the black plastic pieces are fading to grey). They want $9,900 (from a used car lot). Is this a good deal? I'm a bit leary because the car is nearing 100k, where the warranty runs out. I am also concerned because this was a bit below the NADA value and the Kelly Blue Book value. Please, give me some opinions on this.

My truck makes noise when you get between 70 and 80 or when you are letting off the gas pedal to slow down a little. It is by far the worst at around 80mph. I have had gm look at it and they told me same thing as my mechanic. Which he has changed the pinion bearings, and it still makes the same noise. What else could it be?

I bought a car last night and got reasonably hosed in the process- as people ususally do. I was curious to know if any one out there could tell me what happens to an older trade in? I owed nothing for the vehicle and they bascially gave me $200.00 credit for it... the thing is that the stereo in it was worth $350 by itself and the tires were close to new. How much would a dealer get from a salvage yard? Do you think they might turn around and sell it to another kind of dealership and make money off of my old ride? Thanks for any opinions...

My dad has an old 1960's Grumman aluminum boat. 16 foot. It would still shine up pretty good with a buffing wheel. But would it be worth putting a new engine on it? Or just get a used one?
Also, it was rated for 25 hp. Could I safely put a 30 - 40 hp motor on it? It has a steering wheel and lever engine control. The hull is pretty heavy duty, thick aluminum, transom is solid.

I started my Neon today, and it started sounding like it was turning off and on, and the door ajar sound was going on and off, and all of my guages were jumping up and down, so I drove it around the block, hoping something might kick in or start working, and all the sudden the gauges all got stuck. My speedometer is stuck on 25 mph, and my RPMs are stuck on 2 1/2, and my gas gauge is stuck on half a tank... what could be the problem. I dont think it's engine problems, it starts up ok, everything else looks fine. My car only has 43,000 miles on it. What could it be and how quickly can it be fixed?

I have a 91 Mercury grand marquis I recently aquired. I was changing the oil today and I only got about two quarts when I drained it. The car is on a slight grade (hill) but it's almost level.
I was able to get another quart out of it by bouncing on the bumper, but the dipstick is still reading that it's about a quart low.
I added two quarts after putting the new filter on and it's reading that it's over full. I've been changing my own oil for about 16 years, and I've never had a problem draining it.

It's a stretch, but I almost think that someone replaced the dipstick with the wrong one, the part # on the dipstick is F1AE-6750-BA M but I can't find anything to reference it to. I'm going to call the dealer in the morning to verify it.

When the garage door is closing with the automatic closer, it shuts the door and then the door comes right back up. You have to press the button on the remote again to get it to stop, and then it stays in the open position about 6". Any ideas on how to fix? It all started about a week ago. The garage door would close then come up about 6" and quit. Pressing the button again would cause it to close then come right back up. Is there a reset button on most automatic openers? Help.

Theres a VW bus for sale in my area, and I'm very interested in buying it. its 5,500. i didnt see any rust, and didnt notice and dings. the odometer said 91k miles. I doubt thats right for a 30 year old car.

from what I've said does it sound like a good buy?
and how much do you think I could bring the seller down in price, I was hoping for around 5000.
