Stay away from the Jensen. Pioneer is ok on the low end. I would look at some of the XM satellite radio's, USB capable, MP3, and Itunes ready. Sony makes a good receiver, I would not buy there speakers but there electronics are ok. Panasonic, Alpine, JVC. These are reasonably priced and good. There are better brands available at your car audio stores.
As far as what difference does it make, a big one. The lower quality units will have a higher distortion rate and will not last as long.

Jensen should not even really be looked at for car audio.

Pioneer is way better than Jensen. Not the best, but way better than Jensen.

You'll be impressed with both the sound and the features.

Have Fun!

Technology is progressing fast. XN Sirrus and MP-3 capable units are the way to go. I am sorry your stuck in the past! Head units are the imputs to the whole system. SO choose wisely
