I have a 91 Mercury grand marquis I recently aquired. I was changing the oil today and I only got about two quarts when I drained it. The car is on a slight grade (hill) but it's almost level.
I was able to get another quart out of it by bouncing on the bumper, but the dipstick is still reading that it's about a quart low.
I added two quarts after putting the new filter on and it's reading that it's over full. I've been changing my own oil for about 16 years, and I've never had a problem draining it.

It's a stretch, but I almost think that someone replaced the dipstick with the wrong one, the part # on the dipstick is F1AE-6750-BA M but I can't find anything to reference it to. I'm going to call the dealer in the morning to verify it.

here is another thought. They do have a tool which has this thin
tube you place down the dipstick tube. it will remove all the oil in the pan and you will have to replace the filter. after the removal of oil look into or search your vehicle model and motor size for oil capacity. Purchase your product and your worries are over JESS OUT

This is a 5.0, right? The cross member cuts right under the oil pan, and the pan is shaped such that it forms two different "chambers", each with it's separate drain plug. One points towards the front, the other is to the rear of the pan.

that one has two drain plugs on it one in the front of the pan also,if you didn't drain it you still got old oil in it,those were tricky to work on,they had a dipped pan on them, that's the reason for the two drain plugs, you,ll probably have to change it again to get it right, good luck on it.

Bring your dipstick with you to a wrecking yard....find the same car (or engine in the warehouse) and compare dipsticks. If they won't help you, blow them off. Most auto wreckers I have dealt with were really very nice and helpful.

Something is not right. I would also ask the dealer( if you do not have an owners manual) how many quarts of oil it takes.
