recently tried to troubleshoot with no success my wind./washer pump and caused a dead short with inline switch . discovered the alternator was either on its way out or it took a hit . replaced alt. van ran real rough , just about stall etc. , just as though the computer was trying to correct itself. it still had the Alt. gauge flashing and showing 10V or less . hmm ! checked for battery chargeing and it dropped only when started . turned van off and checked all fuses in and out of box . all very good .tried to restart the van and realized no Service Engine Soon light come up . the instrument dash , guages etc. light up . no brake , SES , oread the manual I have and it appears as a possible blown PCM .?? tried a OBD1 test at the ALDL block and nothing comes up on dash . can't even get a code 12 on key ON position . can someone please help to to confirm if its a blown PCM or not ? self employed and this is the work van , had to temporarily use another truck Iown to keep afloat . LOL

Many cars have number plates made up to look like something that there aren't. Like 15 being displayed IS. Do the police not bother about this and how do cars get an MOT with plates like this.
It tends to be wanny be's who can't afford a cherished number.
Waht are the Laws around this, and do the polic ever bother aboit this ?

I have a 1996 Nissan Altima, I went to get an estimate on new struts at Monroe and they told me about $2000? Does anyone know of any other options, i got 138000 miles on it. And it is in basically mint condition.

my year 2000 v reg 1.9tdi passat has started vibrating.(it is a uk car)
i have put an injector cleaning fluid into the tank,same with the oil.ive also changed the oil and had the gear box mounts changed and that helped a bit,but when i accelarate i feel a vibration through the pedal.
i am not losing any power,not using any more fuel than normal and it ticks over perfect when im sitting idling.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whats with this people wanting to change my brake disc of a 2 year car ?

I have a Toyota and I change the brake this like one time, and it have 14 years (2002)

I understood that the brake disc deteriorate if you dont change your brakes pads on time, when is needed

I have only change my brake pads on time and was on time, as soon as the light sensor went off, I change the pads

Now the sensor is on and I went where I bought the car to buy my pads but it seems they want me to change both front brake discs, so I went to another recognize BMW part shop and they told me I need to change the four of them!

I want second opinion on this cause I dont think its that neccesary or it deteriorate that fast

With your opinion I'll check again in a particular mechanics and see if Im a need of new brake disc

I had a transmission check done (diagnosed) with no problems showing about two months ago. However, the last couple days I noticed while trying to accellerate, the RPM's go up (to like 5-7) and the car doesnt move too fast... I looked at the transmission fluid and it is pretty dark. I know it's supposed to be a pink looking color... Plus it has a light burning smell... Do you think that by the fluid being bad, it could cause this RPM / driving problem? In other words, maybe if I get the transmission fluid change, the problem could go away? Thanks.

My brakes make this horrible sound when I stop. My brakes sound like they're grinding metal or something and someone said it's the roters and someone else says I just need brake pads. Which is it? I don't want to look foolish when I get it fixed.

I am 17 years old. I will be 18 in April. My mom just gave me her car (she bought a new one) but the problem is I can't drive it until I'm 18 because she won't put me on her insurance. I have tried every art of negotiation but she is stubborn. She suggested that I find my own insurance at 17 (with liability) but i'm not sure if that's possible. Is it? If so were can I find it? ANy alternatives?

i was going home from work in belfast and was in slow moving traffic behind a bus when a cyclist came up the inside of me and pulled in front of me, the bus spead off and im stuck behind a numpty on a bike going a snails pace, he highway code states no passing on the inside, surely this applies to cyclists as well as motorists? right?

i honked my horn at him and he looked at me as if i was at fault!

I will be 16 jan. 29th. and I want a job. I have a man that will give me a job when I turn 16 for $8.00 an hour. I am homeschooled. My mom is a school teacher, and where I live the state doesnt pay her much. My father has passed away. All I want is a used s10 or another old used vehicle so I can get to work. Is there anyone with a bit of extra cash that could help me out? I could get a good running truck with $2000. Once I turn 16, I can pay the money back plus $250 within 3 months.
