Yes you can but you'll need 350 head gaskets. You would be better off putting 350 Heads on a 305. The 305 heads would give you a smaller chamber. What are you trying to do? If you are going for performance you're defeating your purpose. Just stick with the 350 heads or get a set of 400 small block heads.

I've done this swap several times and have never had a bad experience from it. The best results were on a friend's '86 1/2 ton. The freer breathing 305 H.O. heads (pirated from a Z-28 someone wrapped around a tree) brought the little Silverado to life and the addition of a '90 factory F.I. system, salvaged from a local boneyard, made this an infinitely more driveable truck. The extra power and reduced fuel consumption were just a bonus.
Like previous answers state: "Make sure that you're using compatible gaskets." Also, ensure the 305 head chambers are large enough so that you are not looking at a compression boost which will necessitate the use of higher octane fuel. While you've got the heads off take the time to clean up any casting slag in the runners with a hand grinder and (VERY IMPORTANT) check for any warpage in the heads themselves. A good many heads have been overheated at some time or another and WILL require some machining to get the mating surfaces true.
Best of luck, and you'll like the end results.

You can use 305 heads on a 350, but you wouldn't want to. The heads used on most 305 models were very restrictive and didn't flow air very well. You are losing power by using 305 heads. The 1984 305 only made 165 horse power. One of the reasons for this was the restrictive cylinder heads.

Along about 1995 -96 bolt patterns changed and so did exhaust bolt patterns. So as long as it is the earlier model 350 YEA. !!!Not only were the combustion chambers smaller( more compression) they flowed GREAT.! Even better was the 267 heads off the small block Chevys made for a couple of yrs in the late 70's early 80's

yes, but wont flow as well, but most are 58cc chambers so will increase compression, but lack in flow volume, and valves are usually only 1.84 such as in most of the 14014416 heads, in which are a good head if you put in the larger valves and port the intakes and polish the exhausts
save any 4416 305 heads you find
they are very common, found on trucks and cars starting in 80

If you are looking for performance, just have the Intake and exhaust ports widened on your 350 heads. Then buy some new (wider seat) valves. Just make sure you valve lengths are the same.

Yes . If your 350 has dish pistons it will help the compression ratio. Its not a great performance option , but if your just trying to get the vehicle back on the road and you already have them it will work.

they will fit( bolt pattern and stuff) and probably add compression(depending on what you're changing from) but they usually dont flow well,
i would not suggest using 400 heads on a 350 because of big chambers could lower your compression (depending on the chamber size you're changing from)
