My 12 month lease says that the lease may be terminated by either party with 30 days written notice.
So where do I stand if the landlord wanted us to leave in 30 days before the 12 months are up and we do not want to leave?

A tenant where I work stated she know for a fact we are to be shoveling her walk in the winter, as it is MN law, but I have scoured our statutes, and find nothing to that effect. Any advice on who to ask this question of? She seems reliable and knowledgable, but doesn't remember where she learned this info....

My house which I have owned for one year (valued at 282K) was deeded to me in my divorce. Can lenders put a lein on my home for my ex-spouses debts? My husband has racked up many debts (50K worth) since our seperation and our loan is in both of our names, only the title is in mine. Can lenders put a lein on my home for his debts? In my divorce I specified all of his debts that he is liable for and I wasnever onhis credit cars etc. I established my own credit history. The divorce decree of course was signed by a judge but can they come after my house anyway since he is on the loan? The bank wants me to refinavce at a huge cost (10K) and 7.0 (myold loan was 6.0) so I would lose all my equity if I refinace. Do I have to refinace? Cant they just take his name off the loan?.

I just don't understand how it's possible for the average college grad who comes out of school with a 42K/year job to buy a house near his/her job without having to endure a 1.5 hour commute.

On a rental application where it asks for personal references, what kind of references are they looking for? (Can it be extended family, or is it best to use non-family such as friends?)

I've heard that there's a 99% return on investment but I'm thinking that granite countertops might sway a potential buyer in our direction that otherwise would have passed up our property. What do you think?

So I just graduated from college and I was just hired making around 54,000 annually. The job comes with internet, car/gas/parking.

My boss apparently increased the base a little to encourage me to live in my territory (Manhattan). The problem is I am not sure if my income can actually get a 1-bedroom that is relatively safe.

I am coming from upstate new york so this is a big confusing change for me.

If it is not possible to live in Manhattan on my salary without living in a high-crime area or a studio, then how would you properly talk to your new boss who is evaluating you?

Thanks!

I looked for a job and for an apt. I found jobs that pay $60K to $75K but the cheapest apartments I found cost $2850 a month. If housing should be no more than one-third of household income, even a cheap apt. requires a $103K+ annual salary. How do families live in S.F. and how do I find cheaper digs?

alright this is kinda long! OK so we put a bid on a house that is bank owned. We live in michigan, it is a forclosure . We offered the full price, plus an addendum for $4000 over for closing costs (rolled into the mortgage). We did this with our buyers agent. The realty company that is representing the house is different than where our buyers agent is from. We closed on the house last friday, our mortgage was set and financed for that over amount. We got the keys, the deed was sent to our realty company. Later that day our buyers agent called and said we could not move in because the addendum never got faxed to the bank who owns the house. They changed the locks and half our stuff is now locked in the house until that addedum gets accepted. No one seems to know who did NOT fax that addendum. We still don't know if it's accepted or not (i call several times everyday to the buyers agent). Are we getting totally screwed? Should we get some legal help and guidance?

I have budget only 1,500 Singapore dollar a month for this thing. Is it enough for that? I need a studio room because I am a single. I heard that HBD is hard to rent. Do you have any suggestion for me? Thank you in advance.

Don't know if every agent does this. But my agent does and told me that most agents do not disclose this to thier clients. If you sell your house on your own then your agent should only charge you 1 1/2 % commision because of course you will still have a contract with that agent and he still needs to get all the paperwork done for you. Just thought anybody with a house for sale would like to know this info in these hard times.

He is in jail for domestic abuse. On me.
I thought I could have things cleaned out and the house ready by the 1st of March. But, with everything going on it is not ready. I would like to paint and some other small repairs. His friend has his power of attorney. They think I should let them list the house the way it is.
They have an attorney. I don't. I can't afford one.
We agreed on a real estate company. Now they want to have a realtor they know list the house. He does work for the company we chose to use. I just don't like the idea of using someone that they know and I don't.

The home has been for sale for many months now, and I am getting good offers from out of state. Nobody seems to want to buy this perfectly good home. It is now priced below what I bought if for. I don't want to turn down good job offers just because I am tied to this place. I don't want to leave until it is sold, but other people are. Should I follow suit?

I was wondering if you have problems with them harassing you?
Like my bill is due on the 1st of the month but past due on the 16th. and today I got a phone call saying it was a debt collector and I told them I'm not past due and on top of that NO LIE I just received my bill yesterday on the 6th and she told me that it's due on the 1st and I said well it's past due on the 16th and it's just the 7th and stop harassing me. Then I hung up on her. I freakin' hate them and I'm seriously thinking about refinancing and going with someone else. I was just wondering if anyone else has had problems with them?
