he said they were overgrown and it looked like a jungle. I thought I should have at least been asked to trim them or warned, but instead they were actually removed from the ground and now it's dirt and grass. There are other plants that are overgrown on the premises, but they were not trimmed, and definitely not removed. Now the landlord doesn't want to pay for new plants. And the handyman gets an attitude with me like they were "a jungle" to justify his decision to remove the plants. The landlord apparently did not give any instruction either way. My question is, is this legal, to remove someone's property, even though my plants (my property) were in the ground (landlord's property). Anyway, I am pissed and don't have the money to start all over with 5 years worth of gardening. Seriously, all it needed was to be trimmed, and all they needed to do was ask. Please help me understand if this if justified for them, or legal.

I made an offer on a house "For Sale By Owner" and it was readily accepted. It has been a rental property and the owner said I could move in and pay rent until the purchase date. He was in the process of having someone remodel the entire bathroom. My son, who is a union carpenter, agreed to do the remodeling and the owner would pay only for materials. When the drywall was removed, significant termite damage was discovered, and the 2X4's were like sponge. They had to be replaced on 1 1/2 walls and the entire floor. I am guessing that there is probably more damage in other walls. The owner has had the property 2 years and 3 years ago the house was professionally treated. Inspections since note the visible damage in the basement, but reports no evidence of active termites since. My question is, is there a customary or any other way to calculate what dollar amount to use for the decrease in value of the property? What would be the best way to handle it?

All the homeowners in the condominiums where I live are supposed to vote and to decide if they want leasing of the units to be prohibited. This would affect only future buyers, so the current owners are still allowed to lease their units if they want to. How passing this law would affect the property value in the future? What would be the pros and cons of each option? Right now 37% units are occupied by renters, and according to the building associations, bringing this number down could bring the property value up in the future. They are really trying to pass this law. Is there a catch in this?

I recently filed for bankruptcy 6 months ago. My current mortgage is due to adjust in the next month or so. Is it possible to refinance while in bankruptcy and if so - who do I contact for this. What company's work with this and won't rake me over the coals?

How long before we have to move out? Can we move out now? Also, do you notify your mortgage companies so they can speed up the inevitable foreclosure? There is no saving our home, so please, only answers to my questions.

My husband and I are getting ready to buy our first home, and it is a scary and stressful stage of our relationship.

Does anyone know what the requirements are for purchasing a home in MA, specifically for first time buyers? What type of credit do you have to have? Are downpayments usually more or less for first timers? What steps should we take to get started?

Any information and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

We are thinking to relocate to PA. My husband works in center city and we are looking for a good place to raise children and has a lot to offer. We visited Media and we couldn't seem to find many single family homes. We would like a single family home within waking distance of the R5. However, a short drive would not be out of the question. Is there a lot of kid friendly community events? would you raise your kids there? if you know any other place other than media, tell me.

The management of the apartment community where I've leased my apartment for over 4 years isn't terribly friendly. Finally I'm moving out in a couple of weeks but the management wants to "inspect" the apartment. When they did their last inspection 2-3 months ago, they said the bathroom was in a bad shape and needed to be fixed. However, they didn't do anything between then and now. So, I replaced the caulk with the help of a friend who is also a professional plumber. Can the apartment management raise an issue with my taking care of it on my own? What could be the consequences?

I live in Texas and I'm planning on buying a property to rehab. Unfortunately I don't have the money to pay cash so I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on other financing options. Should I go to a bank or a mortgage company? Are there special loans to apply for? I plan on starting a small L.L.C. company for my investment properties. Is there any government assistance for small businesses such as this? I don't really know anyone in the industry so I am having trouble finding a lot of the information I need.

i live in a upstairs cottage flat which i am in the process of buying from the council. When i first moved into the flat i was told by my local housing office that the garden to the entrance of my property was mine and it was my responsiblity to maintain. Now that i have come to buy my flat the council want me to pay for maintance to the "communal gardens" within the annual service charge. this figure is £821.50. i have disputed this with the council but they aren't reasoning with me and insist that my garden is communal. Can anyone give me advice to clarify what a communal garden is? the lady that lives below me has her garden at the rear of her property and is only accessable via her property. that to me isn't communal! I'd be greatful for any advice.

Hi everyone: I'm a 27-year-old single female with a stable job as a public school teacher. My dream is to purchase a house; it needn't be anything glorious, but I want something sturdy. However, I have very little savings due to my small income and student loan bills, not to mention rent and so forth. I've slashed my expenses to the minimum, but ultimately I would not have a lot of money to put down on a house. And, we all know the income levels for teachers. Is it feasible for me to buy a house?

I did speak with one mortgage representative at a supposedly-reputable company; however, it seemed like there were a ton of little charges added onto the "base cost" of the loan, and it rapidly spiraled to a mortgage payment on a $100K house that I could not afford (we're talking $1300 or so).

Any advice would be great.

Long story short... my former roommate is withholding $400 of my deposit. It has been 2 months since I moved out and was taken off the lease. Since this former roommate is not the "official" landlord (that title would be reserved for the Managers of the Apartment complex), would I be able to sue him in small claims court and win back my deposit?

California law states that a landlord must return your deposit 21 days after you have moved out... but I am not sure if he would qualify as a landlord?

Thanks in advance.
