The home has been for sale for many months now, and I am getting good offers from out of state. Nobody seems to want to buy this perfectly good home. It is now priced below what I bought if for. I don't want to turn down good job offers just because I am tied to this place. I don't want to leave until it is sold, but other people are. Should I follow suit?

Find a good rental management and rent it out. At least its making you money instead of costing you. Then you can go where you wish and the management company will take care of the house. Or find a family member to buy it or to handle the selling of the house for you.

It is a poor thing to drop the price of a home. I have found that is the property is priced at fair market value for the community that it is in, and the condition of the property is good, the offer to buy will be LOW.

With this as a beginning point, the seller is a fool if they lower their offering price. The real estate wants to say that the price has been lowered, this attracts more lookers (not necessarily buyers). Having a potential buyer that says (xyz) and they would buy, is reason to lower a price. If there is no offer, there is no reason for you to lower a price.

In your case, I would rent the property (1 or 2 years), take the job where I want to go. Do you know - many a renter will buy a home they are living in if the deal can be worked out? The problem with life is we only thing one way. We have to always remember that "THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY TO SKIN A CAT".
