I'll be 18 on Sunday, and i want to get some credit cards, not to use all the time, only when needed, and with Christmas coming up, i figure get a credit card and some store cards to save some money, and help out/gain some credit at the same time. I would like to get a credit card through my bank, Wells fargo, will they just accept me? Also, how about Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy ect? I will not max out the cards, just buy things here and there and pay off right away.. Can someone explain the limits/acceptance of companies for someone who is just turning 18? Thanks for any help..

What will happen if I just pay much more than the minimum payment but I still have a balance left on my card? I'm maybe going to be able to pay out about $300 or $200 out of $500...

What are the consequences of me not paying off the full debt? Does it significantly decrease my credit score, or is that only if I do it for several months at a time? Is one "boo boo" going to ruin my life?

I owe original chase credit card $5900 in 2003. I went out of county for three years after 2003. During that period, this account was purchased by 2 collection agencies. The second one offered me a settlement for $2500. As I could not get that information that time, did not proceed with that option. Now I am back in country and this account was purchased by third collection agency. They now say that the total account balance with intrest is little over $10,000. They referred this account to their attorney for possible law suit. When I contacted the attorney, he is not accepting for any settlement less than $7500. I did not requested validation of debt as I know this is a valid one.

Is this amount $10,000 now with intrest is legal in NJ on an initial principal of $5900 from 2003? And is there any way that I can use offer from previous collection agency? Is $7500 a reasonable offer for settlement? He accepted to give me a letter in writing that the account is settled in full.

According to this post (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061210142207AAPbk0c) , multiple inquiries in any 14-day period are counted as just one inquiry.

Does this apply to credit cards?

If so, are asking them to lower interest rate, to raise balance, or applying for a new C/C considered "same type" of inquiry?

I am wanting to raise my FICO score. It's currently 716. I am wondering if raising my credit limit from 5k to 30k will help it or hurt it. My annual income is 50k. I plan on getting a a small car loan in a year and getting a home a few years from now. Any expert advice would be appreciated.

Since we our still unpacking I had to look for my checks and debit card...which surprisingly our MIA. SO someone had to have stolen them without e knowing. Even though I thought I had them in a secure place.
So also, because of this I cannot open another checking account anywhere. I need a checking account now because I got a job nd eventually get a credit card. How can I clear this up with the bank? Please Help!

A collection agency's attorneys sent me a letter at the beginning of August stating that if I did not make an attempt to contact them or pay the bill they would sue for the amount. In the middle of August I sent $50 and put a note saying that I would pay $50 every month until the bill was paid in full. In Sept I sent an additional $50 and am just about to sent the third payment. However, we just received paperwork stating that they are suing. They are suing for the original amount as well even though both of my checks have been deposited by them. If they cashed my checks doesn't that state that they accepted our payment plan? They should not be suing and they should not be suing for the full amount when I have paid at least half...right?

I want to open a savings account and then turn around and get a secured loan on it.
I called my bank(wells fargo) and asked them about it. They said yes they do loans like that and yes they report to all 3 credit bureaus. But she said it depends if you get approved or not.
I dont understand why it would be difficult to get a secured loan when the bank freezes your money anyway. Even if you have bad credit it shouldnt matter because its 0% risk to them.
Can someone explain this to me?

Also, If anyone has personal experience would it be easy if you have terrible credit to get a secured loan using a savings account or CD from a big bank like Wells Fargo or BofA, or from a local credit union?

Thanks

So I got this collection letter in the mail saying that owe T-mobile $100. I thought I had paid this account off and out of nowhere I get this letter. I'm going to pay the measley $100 dollars I knew absolutely NOTHING about. That doesn't bother me. But what DOES bother me is how is this going to effect my credit? I was unaware that I even owed this!
Anyone have any answers? I tried calling the agency from where the letter was sent but they are already closed for the day.

Okay, I have a dilemna. I have a check with me and my co-signer for 20,000 dollars, but we don't have the same bank, and they wont let me put the check in her account because I don't have an account with them, and I can't get one because I have no state ID (This happened at Chase and Citibank), do you people know any alternative routes I can go about getting this check cleared as soon as possible?

I have a $100 Visa gift card that can't be reloaded. I've spent $99.37 on it, and I'm not sure what to do with the 63 cents left over. I thought I could donate it to some charity, but they seem to all require a $5 minimum. Any ideas?

I am being sued for a four year old cc debt from Capital One by a lawyer from Collect America. The original debt was 1900 and with interest it comes to around 3900. I have not responded to the summons yet. From a newspaper article online I found this about the subject.
-----------
Challenge the collector

Jarzombek goes one step further and recommends challenging the collector to prove that the defendant owes the debt. Often, he says, the collector will not have access to the original contract or details of the debt to prove his case and any response from the defendant will cause the debt buyer to walk away from the case.

"You can appear in court by filing a written answer with one sentence: 'I deny the plaintiff's claim,'" he said. "I tell them to show me a contract, to demonstrate that they have the authority to sue."
-------
Other sources I found about validating a debt talk about sending the debt validation demand to the collector not the court? What should i do?

I'm looking for a credit card co. that pulls directly from equifax only. I have a really good history with them and I think I will be approved for any kind of card as long as it's being pulled from Equifax Only. I'm currently working on the other bureaus.

Thank you,
