I'll be 18 on Sunday, and i want to get some credit cards, not to use all the time, only when needed, and with Christmas coming up, i figure get a credit card and some store cards to save some money, and help out/gain some credit at the same time. I would like to get a credit card through my bank, Wells fargo, will they just accept me? Also, how about Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy ect? I will not max out the cards, just buy things here and there and pay off right away.. Can someone explain the limits/acceptance of companies for someone who is just turning 18? Thanks for any help..

At this point I would direct you to the website below. Easy Credit Repair has something for everyone. There is a section called low apr credit cards and there are a couple of advertised sponsors there that offer good rates for those with bad credit as well as little credit experience. Wells Fargo will not automatically approve you just because you bank with them! Your credit report will look better if your credit card is from a totally different bank too. Do not apply for a lot of cards all at once! Your credit score will take a nose dive and your interest rate will rise as a result. Apply for no more than two. In fact in the low apr credit cards section, you can fill out one application and they will search and find credit cards for you! Use them wisely!

I would start with your Well's Fargo Bank first and see if you are accepted. You may find out that you only qualify for a secured credit card which is just fine because this secured card can turn into a regular card in a short amount of time. You can use one card in any of the stores you mentioned above..take a deep breath and relax.....

Walmart credit cards are pretty hard to get from what I understand. I would maybe try Capital One... From what I hear they are ok. it's good that you have a bank account too, a credit card through them would be great.....Sear's cards are good too, except that once you pay the card off you have to pay off the finance charge....they have a card you can use in the store and a mastercard....Just a little FYI

ohhhhhhh i would start out with just one or two.
it will look bad on your credit to have several opened at once.
its not just about maxing out cards or not paying them, they also look at if you paid more than the minimum balance on time each month and what percentage of your card you have used.
usually you can get a starter credit card at 18 with very little money.

Uh, no, you have to qualify. You might be able to get a card at one of the retail stores with a small limit on it.

they pretty much accept anybody. i dont see where you think your going to save money. at your age with little or no credit you can expect very high interest. only way round that is to pay the balance every month. btw they hate it when people do that. they dont make any money that way. whaaaaa.
