Anyway, I turned 18 recently, and I canceled my verizon account in my dads name, and switched to ATT to get an iPhone. My verizon cancelation fee is due today, but right now I dont' have the funds (I recently racked up a few overdraft fees from the bank, so I am kind of stressed out with money). I should have enough money by friday, which would make the payment about 5 days late.

I am worried because this account is tied to my parents credit. But I dont' want them to know I am having financial problems, as I am very independent and they seem to make too much of things.

But based on what I have read here, it can take anywhere from 30-90 days late for it to effect your rating, and even then it doesn't hurt it until you are sent to collections.

So should I be fine having a payment that is a few days to a week late?

I remember reading that recently, but I still see signs up in stores that say you have to be purchasing over a certain dollar amount if you want to use your credit card.

Just wondering ...

Last year I disputed a utility account with a company outside the state I live in. i thought it was all taken care of since the updated credit report i received didn't have it on there. i just received a new report and there it is. The company confirmed with the landlord of that address that i did not live there, but that the deposit and first month's rent was written by "someone" other than tenant and it was returned NSF. The utility company thinks it was me (with no proof) and are still pinning the bill on me. I had filed a police report against the person who used my personal info, signed a notorized affidavit that it wasn't authorized by me, proved where I lived, and everything I was supposed to do (not to mention that this was one of three fraudulant accounts-the other 2 totaling over $800 came off immediately). They refuse to remove it. Now what do I do?

My senior year in high school I played football and injured my knee and so I had to get surgery on it and now there is collections agency coming up on my credit report showing an unpaid balance for which the schools insurance was to finish paying for. Is it legal for it to come up on my credit report even though I was under the age of 18 at the time this happened or does that even matter at all when it comes to this?

FYI
My bday was in June of 2003 and the collections agency put that on my credit report on July of 2003 right after my highschool graduation and my 18th bday

(YES, I KNOW IT'S NOT A LOT BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SOMETHING THAT WASN'T MY FAULT TO BEGIN WITH)

i have been looking around the web about credit reports and found info. saying that even if I don't pay what I owe in 7 years it will still get taken off and even if I do pay it that it still takes 7 years? I also heard about "reaging" say, I have an account in collection since 2004, then I contact the creditor to pay off the balance, in 2007. I heard the clock starts all over again from the last time they posted something on my credit? Help....

why do cash advance and loans always have other offers to sign up for, ad you already need money. I you had money you would sign up, and not ask for a loan.....and they say they can help, than send you to another cash lender provider..they claim to help but don't, their send you to 9 or 10 payday lenders who are no lenders at all, just to offer you offers that you have to pay for..if you're not lending the money why are they in involve people who are applying for cash payday loans or advances , only want to hear from a lender who's gone to give them their cash advance....

I recently pulled my credit report and am now wondering what is the best way to get my credit score up. I have a credit card opened in 2000, the status says charge off, I owe $1300, it says date reported 2/2007. I am willing to pay. Can I make an agreement to pay and have the account removed from my report? I also have another bill that was sent to collection. It is for $300, date reported 7/2002, opened in 2001. This only showed up on one of the credit bureaus reports. Should I make an agreement to pay this one off also. Keep in mind these are the only two items on my credit report. Nothing else to prove that I can now pay my debts on time. Having a hard time building credit.

I lost my job earlier this year and it put my wife and I behind pretty bad. Just now are we back on our feet able to starting paying these things off. How can I level with a collection agency to try and pay as less as possible. It's not that we have alot of debts, just a couple of ones that are like between 1k-2k and you can't exactly just put up a thousand bucks up front and still expect to buy groceries and pay rent.

I am having the money taken directly from my bank account, and it says the status is "this item is pending payment through paypal. Payment was sent on Oct 18th." What does this mean? Did the e-bayer receive the payment? Could the package have been sent already or does the status change when it is? Please help!

What is the worst thing that can happen to you if you don't pay off a credit card? The account was already charged off and the creditor is calling my parents house when I don't pick up my cell phone.

I am seeking to improve my credit score. In addition to paying up past due and collection accounts, I have opened and have been paying, secured and unsecured credit cards accounts and a new car loan for over a year. All is heading in the right direction.
When checking my recent credit reports (All Three of the Majors) I see they DO NOT have my employment history correct at all.

My question: Is addiing employment history a good thing? Does it help raise the credit score? Please advise. Thanks.

PS: I am currently employed and run a very successful busieness. Not sure if this helps or not.
Thanks

My father-in-law passed leaving the loan(debt) of a car. The car is solely in his name. She does not need or want the car, Is she responsible for the car? Plus the car is too expensive for her limited income. What should we do with the car?

We have inquired about turning the car as a trade in but the value is below the owed amt so she would be forced to cover the difference. Ford offered to auction the car and told my M-I-L that she would be responsible for the difference between the amount owed and the auction price. Our only other option would for the bank to repo the car upon non-payment - 23 payments remaining.

There is no estate and the is little to no equity in their house and the house is on the market to be sold. They had little savings, 2 pensions and now she will have his social security.

Actually i am a visa holder and work as a clerk in a liquor store and make hardly $1300 a month which is well enough for my rent and other bills and food. I dont see any other way to pay it.
so i am just wondering is it a good idea to file for bankruptcy and does the immigrant status matter in this case and do you have to go to the court with your attorney.
