I am seeking to improve my credit score. In addition to paying up past due and collection accounts, I have opened and have been paying, secured and unsecured credit cards accounts and a new car loan for over a year. All is heading in the right direction.
When checking my recent credit reports (All Three of the Majors) I see they DO NOT have my employment history correct at all.

My question: Is addiing employment history a good thing? Does it help raise the credit score? Please advise. Thanks.

PS: I am currently employed and run a very successful busieness. Not sure if this helps or not.
Thanks

does not help your score. you can report what you do and do not want on that part of your credit report. if you have unresolved debt out there still i would suggest NOT having your current employment info on the report.

personally i dont keep anything in the employer field. the only people who need that info should be the people you filled an application out with and they would already have it then. more and more access to credit reports is being done by junk mailers and such.

Don't bother, it won't help your score. The employment information piece is updated when applications come in with employment info on them. If you submit credit applications with your updated employment information, the new info will soon appear on the file. The only time that usually comes into play is to see if the employment on the app matches the employment on the file if they need to do verification or if something seems really off - you say you're a doctor on the app, and they notice the file says your occupation is a garbage man.

Employment history is not a consideration as far as credit score is concerned.

The only way the credit bureaus even have this information is when people apply for loans.

If the employment info the show is incorrect, dispute it. But your employment history has no bearing on your credit score. In fact, it's common for credit reports to have no employment history at all.

I may be wrong, but I don't think credit bureaus accept information directly from the borrower. It has to come from independent sources - creditors or employers.

Everything should be up to date. It avoids needless and embarrassing questions later.
