I have a friend I am helping to improve his credit score with making him an authorized user on some of my accounts. He has only 40 credit score points before he's at 620. How many points, on average, does an "excellent" credit history add per credit card?

Hi,
My 7 and 10 year wait for my delinquent accounts and bankruptsy is finally over. I have NO credit now on my credit report. Everything has fallen off. Over the years we have learned how to live within our means and have paid cash for cars, appliances, etc. I am so used to paying up front for what I need, I really see no use in credit cards but applied for one to start rebuilding credit and was approved. From what I have read, I plan on using it monthly to make a small (gas, maybe) purchase and pay it off monthly. We need to get in a position to where we could purchase a house in the future. Any suggestions? Advice? Thanks!

Hi all,

I am expecting a lot of bad answers to this one but would appreciate it if you did not.

Simple fact - I work full time - got myself into trouble about 5 years ago and have never recovered. Whatever I do, I just can't get these debts to go. I've been through government help, looked at IVAs but no no avail. I have recently been offered a loan but that was for £8000 at 115% which is ridiculous. I would be willing to pay back at least £250 per month with a sensible amount of interest

I think it might boost my score because these two cards only have a limit of $200 and $700 respectively. Both paid off in full, but I have two other credit cards that have 25K limits so I dont need these stupid cards. Should I close them? I think the avail balance on them is too low. I've had them both for less than a year. My goal is to boost my credit score. Thanks for your input

I know it's 7 years for negative items... but is it 7 years from the last late payment? 7 years from when the account first went delinquent? or 7 years from when you paid off the account in full (if it was in collections etc...)?? Thanks for your help!

I recently received a letter from a loan servicing center about a loan from 1995. I had purchased a car from a finance company that is now no longer in business. I was treated so badly by this company (in person and over the phone) that my stepfather (who was the cosigner) told me to tell them to come and get the vehicle in 1995 which they did. I received a threatening letter from this loan servicing agency saying that I still owe almost $7000 which is more than the car was worth 12 years ago when I bought it. I contacted them and all I got was more threats. My stepfather has since passed away and I am wondering what my legal rights are as far as this.

When you take out a loan, they promise the add-on payment will not exceed 5-6 % of the sum of the credit. However, sometimes one ends up paying 20-30 %... When one takes the case to the court, they say there's nothing to be done about it. The reason is that there are some indirect payments not included in the original loan contract.
So, what other loopholes can they embrace and how do you avoid them?

I put $500 down to hold a car at a dealership. However, I decided not to buy the car anymore and the dealership refunded my money back, which they put it back on my card. However, when I looked at my statements online, I dont see that money being refunded at all. It has been 3 days, what is going on here? Did it not get refunded or what? (Note: I do have the recepits.)

My boyfriend has established excellent credit from a young age, he currently has no credit cards. We've been house hunting for YEARS and we are finally close to closing on one, been working with mortgage people and everything has been fine. Cut to today and the mortgage company "runs the numbers" and he is showing up with a score of ZERO! Absolutely nothing! I can't even find any information of this ever happening, nor anyone who it has happened too. The mortgage people are "on it" but I am way to curious, what the hell happened here?

I am trying to rebuild my credit. Here is another question. Once I have paid the credit cards soon after I am having a medical procedure which I was going to put on one of the credit cards. Or How do I apply for a 0 percent finance card? I have had some in the past.
