I have an account that is charged off. Which means the creditor wrote it off as a loss. Can they still send my file over to a collection agency to collect on it? I now have a collection on my report also for the charged off acct. Please let me know. I thought if an acct is charged off, that was it and it just remains on my credit report for 10 years. Thanks

I was late on my credit card payment two months in a row. I think it was because I was travelling and they don't give me but about 1 week to pay the bill. What bothers me is the balance (which I paid) is less than $300 each month and the late fee is $39 plus finance charge. That's an effective rate of over 120% per year.

I suppose they have a right to charge whatever they want to charge, but this seems exhorbitant. Is there anything I can do to negotiate out of paying it or do I just pay up and be more careful in the future?

I have heard that Texas has a 4 year statute of limitations on unpaid credit card debt. If a collections agency buys this account does the 4 year limit start over? If not, and the debt is over 4 years old and has had no payments made to it, can I have it removed from my credit report? If so, how do I go about it?

I had a balance on a credit card and found another credit company with lower interest rate so I transferred the total balance from my card (Chase) to Bank of America. I cut up the Chase card after that.
Chase has since sent me statements with finance charges, even though I made no further purchases after transferring the total balance to another card. This doesn't seem right to me. Has anyone else encounter this?

I got a letter in the mail from Midland Credit Management, Inc regarding my debt with Verizon. This debt is from 3 1/2 years ago. It says to call them to arrange to pay the balance of $1096.08 by 8/10/07 .

It says " After evaluating you account, we have decided that it meets all the requirements for our arbitration process. Because you have not paid this debt or arranged for suitable repayment of the balance dud, we intent to submit your account for arbitration with the American Arbitration Association if we cannot resolve your account before 8-10-2007. This is your last chance to arrange repayment before we begin to expend costs related to the arbitration process. If an award is granted in our favor and costs are included in the award, we may also add these costs to your outstanding balance."

I am so scared! Please explain to me what this means. I'm afraid to call them, I don't know what to say and I don't want them to be rude with me. Thank you so much in advance.

I'm just wondering. I applied for Capital One credit card with hope that it will help me build/increase my credit score. However, I read that they do not report your credit limit thus affecting the credit utilization part of scoring. If I get approved for this card and decided not to use it, can I simply not activate it. If I do not activate it, will it still show on my credit report?

Thank you.

My bank (U.S. Bank) rejected me for an auto loan because I don't have a long enough credit history (I've only had my card since November of 2003). However, my credit score is 704.

I have a dealership in mind that my family has been using for ten years, and they promote their financing program as being able to help almost anyone secure an auto loan despite credit problems.

Anyone know if dealerships can get an auto loan easier than a bank? I do not want to have a co-signer.
