My mom has been talking to someone on the internet that is in real estate. He told her that the money that he's getting from the person that he sold the property to was gonna send it through a bank draft, he does'nt have a bank account of his own and he ask my mom could he use hers to do the bank draft. the amount is $10,000,000. We think it's a scam, what do you guys think?

This is a very common scam...the draft will be no good and your mom will have sent him money and she will be out a lot of funds...othewise he is doing something illegal and he is using her account to launder the money.

It sounds like just another variation of the same old scam emails we have all gotten at least once...and they always want your bank account info. DO NOT let your mother do anything with this person, these scams are well known. She is best ending all communication and forwarding messages to fraud investigation.

It's pretty much a spin off of those "Nigerian bank scams"...people have gotten these in regard to a "prince" there, contacted and told they are the closest hire to an inheritance (a friend of mine got that one), someone wanting help, real estate stuff like yours, and so on... http://kb.iu.edu/data/afvn.html

Its a scam, and also a very famous scam. We see these scams all the time and know of some people that have lost everything that own.
They work by asking you to pay some money towards (usually paying of some government official) opening a account and then you pay. Then some delay occurs but if you pay more money it will speed things up. You pay more money and then your committed and you keep paying to free up the red tape but the funds never end up in your account. Dont go there.

Absolutely 100% scam! Call the police ASAP!!! Doesn't it seem strange to your mother that someone in "real estate" would not have a bank account or his office wouldn't have an escrow agent or account?

Absolutely a scam. He'll probably ask her to send him her check for the $10K - then a couple weeks later the bank draft he sent her will prove to be forged, and she'll be out the $10K.
