Orchard is a subprime creditor but a good creditor to use for building or rebuilding credit.
They usually do have annual fees though the fees are generally small compared to First Premier.

Orchard "may" waive all or part of the annual fee after the first year or two, as long as you keep the account in good standing. Though you will have to request it, they generally will not just offer to waive or decrease it.

First Premier will never waive or decrease any of their fees.

First Premier is a super subprime creditor that will drain you dry with their fees.

Having an Orchard card will get your foot in the door with HSBC, since Orchard is affiliated with them.
Keep the Orchard card in good standing and HSBC may, at some point, offer you an HSBC card that may have better terms then the Orchard. Or may approve you if you apply for one of the HSBC cards.

Rather than paying those high non refundable fees that First Premier requires, you would probably be better off using that money to get a secured card from your bank, credit union or with a better creditor than FP. One that will unsecure the card around a year, more or less, when you keep the account in good standing.

First question - Why is your credit so bad if you've never had anything but pre-paid cards? Second question - why do you think you need a credit card? Credit cards are less than worthless. They steal your money AND your peace. You end up paying more for everything because of the interest charges and fees. Save your money and buy the things you 'need' with cash. You'll probably find you don't 'need' so many things. And if you plan to use credit cards to charge thing like food and gas, you have more serious problems and a credit card will only add to your problems, not solve them.

They are horrible..they have so many fee's that it forces you over your limit and you will never get out from under it unless you pay it off in full but then they will still charge you a yearly fee so you will always be paying something and if you close it out..it will hurt your credit. Your screwed no matter what.

I would stay away from them. The credit limits they give are extremely small and before you know it, your'e way over your limit. Another alternative would be appliedcardbank. They have the same fees, but give periodic credit limit increase, about $300 every six months. They will help you stay current.
