I'm looking for ways to raise my credit (I got a mystery "hit" on my credit score, recently, which sucks) and I was hoping someone on here knows of a credit card with a low rate that won't screw me after a certain period has expired. I've had many debit cards, but never a credit card. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There was a news article on Yahoo a few months back, on people paying others with good credit with great credit cards to place them on their accounts, ordering an additional credit card in the name of the purchaser (bad credit guy), therefore increasing the credit of the other guy. The card will be sent to the one ordering it, and they can then tear the card-up, thus the process being relatively safe. Did anyone see that article? I would like to do that, so if someone could help, It would greatly appreciated!

As a person who's never used a credit card before, I'm hoping someone can give me good advice on what my first credit card should be. Also, what's the best way to find out about my credit score? Again all answers are appreciated and I thank you.

Discover appears to have a better interest rate, and probably a lower monthly payment. Is there any downside to doing this? With credit card companies, there always seems to be a downside...

I am very on time in paying my bills. About a few months ago, my employer at the time shorted my hours making it a hardship on me to pay my bills. The only thing that I could get by with is paying my rent and utilities and I relied on my parents for food, etc.

I was unable to pay my Macy's card for two mos. & they turned it over to this debt collection agency called Van Rue Credit Corp. I explained to the lady that because of my situation with my past employer, I faced a financial hardship. She seemed to sympathize with me and we worked out a hardship plan.

This month, I am unable to pay the agreed amount because I had a medical emergency. It was either I got treatment or die. I told her my situation and she got really nasty with me and said that I cannot skip payment for a month and I better do something to get the money because then I'd have to pay it in full. I assured her that I can pay for next month but she didn't want to hear me out.

Can someone help me with this?

A family member has an outstanding bill from a local hospital for $35,000. She's unemployed due to health conditions and only receives a small widow's pension from the Vets. Admin. She had worked out a plan with the hospital to pay it off. Then they suddenly stopped sending her the bill and now she has gotten a threatening call from a collection agency claiming to represent the hospital. In the call the man stated that if the debt is not paid off they will place a lien on her house. She has filled out all paperwork for Medicaid assistance but has been denied numerous times. She has called the finance dept of the hospital many times but has yet to get a call back. Does anyone know what she can do or what course of action she can take to avoid the lien being placed? Thank you for the help!!

And why is it better than the other. thanks!!

I have a Dell account with an APR of 29.99% . I had a credit line of $1500 w/ them and recently got an increase to $2000 about 2 mos ago. My balance is $1,036 and the interest rate is killing me! It's like I'm not getting anywhere with lowering my balance even if I pay more than the min. each month. Today, I tried asking Dell to lower my interest rate but they refused to. They supposedly say that " I'm not qualified to lower my interest rate at the moment." That pisses me off for one, I feel that I'm a good customer and I've paid my bills on time with them every month way before the due date.

Anyway, I've thought of getting a balance transfer card of 0% APR for atleast 6-12 months to pay off this line of credit ONLY. I'd only use the card for balance transfers. Is that a good idea?

Exactly how does balance transfer cards work, does it helps my score?

If I was to transfer my dell account balance onto the new card, will that mean that i have to close the dell account?

I recieved a payroll advance from a check cashing establishment about 3 weeks ago and they have yet to cash my check. I want to put a stop payment on it, but as bad luck would have it it'll probably try to clear my account the day I decide to do it.

If I do stop payment on it and the check never clears my bank account do I still have to pay them that money or will my debt magically disappear? LOL

bought a new car, signed contract, finance co. wants a phone in our name, wants to pay for it, but, we will actually not have a cell phone contract, the cell phone company is faking a contract and sending it to the finance co. Is this illigal? Isnt this fraud? The car dealership is paying for a cell phone in our name for 30 days and says we can cancel the contract, or the fake contract after 30 days is up. When we signed the note on this car, there was no mention of a phone being in our name, now 2 weeks later, the finance company wants to change their decision if we dont have a phone to show our address on a bill. dont know what to do..dealership wants the car back if we do not do this cell phone thing today....HELP!

I applied for an online loan through Canadian Loan Group based at
145 King St. W
Toronto, Ont.
M5H 1V8
on July 14, 2007. The next day I received an e-mail from Mr. Billy Daly(Dailey) who stated I was approved for a loan and to call him at my earliest convenience! Regardless what the email stated after I filled out the online application they they would contact me! I called Bill and was told I was approved for $5,000.00CA to $10,000.00CA but would have to send in a security deposit which they would hold until after the payments were made in 5 years as I have no credit and I am starting fresh to re-build my credit.
Bill e-mailed me the forms to fill out and sign and fax back to him which I did and then off I went to another city to send the required money gram! Upon my return home I immediately called Mr. Bill Daly(Dailey) to give him the referance # and was told to wait 24 to 48 hours for the funds. No funds and so was told to call Customer Care at (416)2338420 and so I wait!

For example, calling constantly, getting into extremely personal business (one asked what kind of example we were setting for our kids by not paying this bill) and being overly rude? Today, a collector from the same company as all of the complaints above said "Why the hell did you answer your phone then?" when my husband said he was at work and could not really talk. Is there anything we can do? we've tried setting up payment arrangements and they've demanded for payment all at once and we simply don't have the money for that. This is in Texas
