I ordered a free credit report and there was an error. I disputed it and received a response that it was fixed, but could not see an updated report on their web site or a corrected score. Their web site says that they will send a report unless filed online. The report I see is still the old report and the score is also not updated so did I waste $8 on a bad score? I called and they want more money to tell me what the correct score should be and want me to pay for another report with the correction as well. Does anyone know how to get a good score and report from them after a dispute online?

I pay on time every month, and I think a positive record such as this would really help out my credit score.
Does anyone know how I could get my landlord to report my payment history to the Credit Agencies? I'd pay the fee if it was small.

Thanks

My mother is in serious debt and worked with this credit card company once before to lower payments but she is still having trouble paying it and now with all the late payments and interest fees tacked on each month she is way over the limit resulting of course in another fee. She makes 600.00 a month from va and thats it. I copay her mortgage for her to have a place to live, but I can't help her with the credit cards. If she stops paying the credit card, what would happen? Could they take her to court? Could they take her house? She can't refinance because she doesn't have a job(we already tried).

They did it to my mother, so she cancelled. Then today I got a notice in the mail that mine is going from 5.9% to 15+%... are they trying to lose all of their customers? There is no way in hell I am going to pay that, so I will be cancelling my cards.

I have never missed a payment or been late. I pay more than minimum payments but I am not close to paying it off, so they are definitely earning interest from me.

I've had this Capital One card for 9 years. It's my oldest account. Two weeks ago, they sent me a letter saying they raised my limit for being such a great customer. Then today I got another letter saying they were going to raise my interest rate from 12.9 to 19.9! It said I can opt-out by closing the account and paying my balance at 12.9 or stay in and go to 19.9. My credit score is in the mid 700s; I think I can do better than that. The problem is that I just bought a home and opened a different account for some big purchases, so I am concerned that opening yet another account in such a short time to do a balance transfer will hurt my score. Would it be better to 1.) close it and pay it at 12.9 2.) open a fresh account somewhere else and do a balance transfer or 3.) pay it faster than anticipated and then leave the account open and unused ?

I had perfect credit about one year ago. Then I had a roommate that basically stole all of my money and left me with a negative bank account. Because of this I was unable to pay my bills b/c my pay was directly deposited until i could stop it. I went to the police and filed a bad check claim (which covers only some of what she stole) and I just graduated college, and things are hard b/c i had terrible credit b/c everything snowballed so quick.
My question is...what, if anything, can i do to repair my terrible credit? My history was short so it went from exellent to bad extremely quickly...any advice would be so helpful, I don't know what to do right now.

I went to the same Wal MArt I have used for years. For the first time the cashier demanded to see my drivers licence with my credit card...I said NO, my social is still on the licence, she was beligerant, so I went to the head cashier. SHe also said I needed a drivers licence with a credit card. I made the store manager come over and HE told me all they needed was a second look at my signature! BUT is thal legal in Massachusetts, and it was humiliating, as though I were a thief.
I never have had to do that in the past, and I still don't have to do that in any New Hampshire Wal MArt...SO, fact and oppinions friends??????????????????

I just finished paying down my credit card balances to zero. I want to lower the credit limits down from about 30k each to around 2 or 3 thousand. Will doing this hurt my credit rating? I understand that closing any accounts can lower a persons credit rating. I have no plans to cancel any credit cards, just lower their limits.

Here are the exact circumstances:

Everything is current and payments have been on time for more than two years.

I have one car loan with a balance of around 12K.

I have one CC with a balance of 4K (maxed out) and another one with a balance of 1K (maxed out).

I have 5 "derogatory accounts" on my report (they were 30 days or more overdue at one point in time), but are either paid off or current.

I have no collection accounts or public records.

I've already paid off 2 car loans.

My credit score is 590.

I want to get it to at least 680 within the next 3-6 months.

Is that even possible and what should I do???

Net income (income after taxes) is about 10K a month (it's only been like this for about 2.5 months).

To anyone who spams YA with "you are not a FICO score" or "credit is evil", please spare me.

I am an Australian citizen living in the US, and have a 30,000 debt/bank loan in Australia, that I am trying to pay off every month - $500. I earn about 35,000US a year, which after tax etc... is not all that much. I also have a car loan, insurance, utilities and rent payments etc here. I end up with about 200 in disposable income a month, which is almost impossible to live off. I have tried to get a loan to transfer my debt from Australia to the US, in the hopes of lowering my payments/interest rate, but as i have alimited credit rating here this is basically impossible. I am considering filing for bankruptcy in Australia, but was wondering if anyone know the process and/or if this is possible, or if there are better solutions available. Debt management companies in australia won't help because i live here, and debt management companies here won't help because it's a foreign debt!

A "Law Firm" out of CA called me last week and spoke to me about a credit card bill I had that is past due. The man told me that the Office turned the bill over to them because it was past due. He told me he would work with me about making monthly payments, that he would send me paper work to review in the mail.
Today, another gentleman from the law office called and told me I would have to make the FULL payment today. If I could not make it today, then they would add court cost and lawyer fees to it and I would get served papers.
I called a judge here in my town (MS) and he told me there was nothing they could do since I was unemployed. I just thought I should get some opinions of some of you.
I called the guy back after speaking with him and asked for "Verification of Debt" and he got VERY ugly with me and hung up on me. The judge told me to ask for it and they would never call me again.
What should I do?

I am confused in how the interest and minimum payment works. Suppose I have a credit card bill for $400 and it says minimum payment of $20 and I pay that $20, will I get charged any interest fees?

Also, if I am buying something that says $39/month on an approved credit card, then I would have to pay only $39/month until the balance is zero... am I right? Please let me know or simplfy my case

thanks

I just got a call from a bill collector. It is from a Credit card that is in collections. The balance was 600. Now they want 1100. She told me they will start legal proceedings in 4 days and that Georgia is a garnishable state. I can't give them any money right now. I have no means. Can they really do that? Do I need to file Bankruptcy? This account is two years old. Why would they wait till now to do this?
