I have my own business and it has been around for over 4 years. My business has excellent credit including 3 credit cards and multiple vendors that I buy equipment and hardware from. I am going through a debt consolidation/reduction plan right now and have charged off 3 credit cards and paid a reduced amount as a settlement so basically my personal credit isn't in great shape.

Citibank recently cut my credit limit on a BUSINESS credit card from $15,000 down to $2000 stating that they reviewed my personal credit and based on their review they lowered the limit on my BUSINESS credit card. How is this possible for them to base my business credit on a personal credit review?

I was in the middle of a business trip and was unable to pay for the rest of my meals and hotel because I only carry one credit card since it had a more than adequate limit. Needless to say it was a mess to scramble to find money to pay for food and expenses the last week of the trip.

I had a credit card back in the 90's. I closed it in 2001 with a balance of $5000 when I got laid off. I tried to keep up the payments but couldn't and stopped paying. It is now on my credit report that I owe $17k. They wrote this amount off in 2006. The date of my last activity was 12/2002. How long will this stay on my report? Also, why is it also included with my debt to income ratio if I am not paying on it and the statute of limitations has expired. Does anyone know?

I have a collection agency asking me to pay an amount I owe to another company. I was unaware of this amount and called the original company if I could pay it off, but they told me I had to speak to the collection agency. I want to get the charge off my account and will pay the amount/settlement owed but feel there is an unlikely chance that the collection agency will contact the original company to ask them to clear my credit report. Anyone had success and how? Is there a type of letter I can get somewhere to negotiate this? Thanks

I filed for bankruptcy in 2003. I applied to for two credit cards (Orchard Bank & Credit One Bank). I've had them since April 2007. I plan on moving back to NYC next year (December 2008) and am aware that most landlords look at your credit history. How long will it take for my credit score to improve with having these two credit cards and making the monthly payments on time?

A collection agency contacted my mom two days ago for a delinquent account. The person she is speaking to is offering a 40 cent on the dollar cash payout on a $13,000 balance, but says that the offer is only good until tomorrow. When asked why, this person says that it's the end of the month and that the collection agency has certain quotas and allocations that they have to work with. She says next month is a new month, and there is no guarantee that she could get the same deal. Is any of this true? How she got into this mess is a long, sorted story, but is there anything she can do to negotiate a lower cash payout? Is there anything else my mom should know? Needless to say this is stressful, so I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks in advance.

I am going to make a small shed and I need to know how to square it. I know that if you measure down one side a certain distance and down the other side a certain distance that your hypotumus will equal a certain distance. It is something like this ,,, 2ft 4 ft = 6 feet is that correct for the hypotumus. Are there other measurement for larger rooms that follow the same pattern.

Thanks ,,, sorry for being so wordy

I have other cards that I have excellent credit history on, but this one card is really bothering me because I had more than a couple of late payments on it in the past. Is it safer for me to just cancel it out, rather than keeping it open?

I got a saxophone back in December. now the payments are a little over 250 a month. back about four months ago I lost my job and have been looking ever since. I missed the past four months on the payments. What I wanted to know is... if I used some of the money from my student loan (I'm going to be a music major) to pay it off... will it still hurt my credit score? the saxophone is 16 months same as cash.

or really.. what is the best thing I can do?

I don't need a percentage, but just a simple answer as lower or higher and why. I'm a little confused (yet... I'm sure I know the answer) on the topic. Thanks for all the help I get. The first answer that answers my question in a few short sentence will probably get the 10 points. People who give me an excerpt from another site(that I could have found myself) don't count.

I currently have two credit cards with a Credit, one with u.s.bank and a personal line of credit with usbank as well and a Department store credit cards. Last time I checked my credit score, it was at 835. That was before my usbank credit card and line of credit. Although I mostly use one credit and two of them are zero balance, would having four cc and a line of credit hurt my score? On the one that i use the most my balance ranges from 20%-40$ of my limit. It goes up and down? Expert advice please!

I am 51 years of age and recently divorced. I have never looked at my credit report until now. My ex-wife told me that if I did, it would take points off of my credit report. My question is: when I viewed the credit report, it had my wrong birthdate, three social security numbers that weren't mine (mine wasn't on it) several addresses that I had never lived at (they appeared to be typos) and it was only two pages long, yet I am a self-employed person and have had lots of credit history. (By the way, she is an accountant and did my bookkeeping.) Can someone explain how I could have credit when my own social security number wasn't even on the report, nor' the right birthdate?
Thank-you.

Well if I keep them will I be charged for anythign even if there is no balance? Do I chop up the ones I do not use and just leave the account open?

My boyfriend & I are trying to plan for the future, specifically home buying & getting married. We are trying to save & rebuild our credit. I have 7 c.c., he has 3 c.c., we have 2 joint c.c.; I have 62.5k in auto loans (we have nothing but our nice cars for sanity--all xtra $ goes to credit..nothing else!). We also have student loans, his were delinquent for 3 years! I have 8k in student loans that Im current & overpay on; he has 80k in student loans that we just made current (cost thousands), stopped the wage garnishments, and plan to refinance them. After bills each month we have about $600 left ea. mo. to save! I just recently obtained a loan for $8500 to pay our cards & pay the back pmts on his loans so the garnishments would stop. In combo w/ his loan issues, I had every credit card available & didnt pay on them when I was 18(pd off now). My score is 540 his is 436...how are we going to get a home & when, are we on the right path? Should I close those pd off cards/leave em open?
