Will you have to pay the IRS at the end of the year?
If so, Why? Is it legal or is it the law?

I saw on a documentary that there was no constitutional law or document stating that we had to pay taxes. Is this true?

While it is a matter of controversy for some, the government does have power from the Constitution to collect taxes.

While the 16th amendment does not specifically say "citizens must pay taxes," the right of the government to make laws determining who should be taxed, at what rate and what penalty for failing to pay is all guaranteed by it.

Allegedly, there were irregularities in the ratification process, but the Supreme Court managed to uphold the amendment, so there was apparently no serious problem. The principle of Stare Decisis means it's not likely to be overturned anytime soon.

My advice is "Don't try it!" The IRS has unbelievable powers when it comes to collecting what is owed. They can garnish wages, confiscate your assets, anything. Now, some people believe that Federal Income Taxes are not legal. They have taken this to court and lost every time. However, their case is pretty strong. They argue, and have shown some evidence, there has never been a law passed to make it legal for the federal government to have an income tax. There is a web site that convincingly explains and supports their argument, but I can't remember the address right now. I found it a few months ago through YouTube. How reliable is it??? That's up to you.

Yes it is the law that you must pay your taxes. If you do not pay then the IRS can and will garnish your wages (which they can do in every state...unlike some other creditors). Judgments stay on your credit report for 15 years so you will have trashed your credit.

Now don't confuse paying your taxes with filing your taxes. If you are due a refund, the government could care less if you file (i mean it's free money to them) you have 5 years to file if you are owed money (you do not get any interest back for granting them the free loan, so it is better to just file and get it done with).

The Federal tax laws have been challenged several times and the Government has always won.

The I.R.S. has power like no other Government division. You are considered guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

They can take your bank account, home, business just about anything they want.

Remember, this is how the nailed Al Capone.

It's the law, if you owe taxes, you pay taxes or you end up in tax hell.
