I realise that in some places it might be very bad for your health if you don't pay your gambling debts :-)
But are they legally enforcible in law?
If you owe money to someone from a Poker game, for example, can he go to law and force you to pay?
Or is it considered as a "Debt of Honour" and no cocern of the Legal System?

I received an email from this cancer patient that has put me as her next of kin and she wants to transfer funds to my account to distribute to charities and I get a chunk of it. I wanted to call this person's bank to set up the transaction but the phone number appears to be legitimate because the first number in the phone number is this sign +. They need my information and mentioned that there's no point in further communicating until they receive the necessary info. to complete the transaction. Is this an idenity theft scam? Can some one please help me with their input to me?

Thank You,

Lanny Marden

I need to know if anyone has been in contact with this company. The phone # is no longer in service. They are ripping people off by saying they are a bank to loan money out. They ask for you to wire the money to Ontario Canada. They say they use it for down payment and closing costs. This is 100% Scam. I need anyone who has any info on this company. Thank you

But they don't steal your credit or use your credit card to rent the movies - they just "steal" your membership and rent from the store.

I recently got a prepaid Visa card but I am not sure on the terms of service. According to what I've read, there is a monthly charge. Does this mean that I have to keep the credit card with enough balance to pay the $4.95 every month? I already have a balance of only 3.00 so if that is so I guess I'll have to refill it JUST to pay for the monthly charge. Will this affect my credit in any way if I don't pay? Thanks.

One of my credit cards sent me a letter stating that due to "inactivity", the account was going to be closed. Period. No opportunity to re-initiate account use or anything. Its being closed and nothing can be done about it. Problems:

1) can't find jack about this in the account terms and conditions,
2) can't even get access to account terms and conditions on account's website,
3) the closing of the account will damage my credit score, and
4) the closing of the account will deprive me of the available credit in the account.

3) and 4) are clearly injurious to me as a Consumer, through no fault or action of my own. The account is in good standing, zero balance, with no late payments ever made, and is about 6 years old.

How the F&^% is this legal?!

I am sitting here very ticked off. I got a call from a collector demanding payment from a account that i pd them 2 years ago. I told this guy that and he laughed, he then told me i have 2 days to come up with a canced check or else they will move on with legal action. i went to the bank i used and 50 dollars later provided me the check front and back showing that it was cashed. I faxed a copy to this guy "mr. Blue" as he called himself. I called him back to confirm he got this fax, he then told me he did but it will take a good 6months to a year to investage this then to show it is paid. He did mentioned that if this is a fake document they will find out in 48hrs and then take me to court. With them threating me with court action can i file a suit against them? what are my rights?

I asked in writing by e-mail and when refused by letter. I am dealing with Washington Mutual now after they bought out the other company. My balance is almost $9,000.00.

They simply say they reviewed the account and won't change the interest.

What can I do to change their position?

The reason for this is that we owe this particular bank money on an old account. However, the account that this check is drawn on is his employers and these are earned wages that the employer owes my husband. Can the bank refuse to cash it because the person named on the check owes them (the bank) money?

I received a summons for a credit card dept I had with Chase that was purchased by Worldwide Asset Purchasing LLC. I want to try and reach a pretrial settlement with the, but need some help. Should I contact them or there attorney? Also, what would be a good number to offer for a settlement that they might accept. Principal balance is 1573.13, 445.02 interest, 235.96 attorney fees. Also if I can't work anything out with them, how would I got about issuing a motion of discovery? This doesn't qualify for SOL either unfortunatly. Also I live in Missouri if that's any help.
Thank you in advance!

Something I need to know. I had a previous debt with Best Buy, a laptop, and I owe $1800. They sent it to a collection agency. I am trying to pay, but now after tax season, I owe over $2000, so it is going to be a while before I can pay. I tried to talk to the person, but they are still insisting that I pay over $200 a month. What happens if I don't pay? Are they going to send me to court?

My daughter is turning 17 in May and she has been interested in building a good credit file. She already has a checking account with my wife's cosign and a debit card. How can I help her establish a credit report and how can we check her credit report? I have tried it online at experian and transunion and equifax, but it says you have to be 18 or older to do it. it is recommended to check your child's credit report to verify there isn't any identity problems. but how can I do that if you have to be 18 or older to check it out? please help me, she is very responsible and is a total adult. she actually tries to help me with my finances! how can i help her with her credit? she has tried to apply for build-credit credit cards, but again you have to be 18 or older. HELP!
