I live in Winnipeg, MB
My boyfriend and I are looking to buy a home in October. We will have a little bit for a down payment. Together we only make around 42639.96 a year. We were going to rent a house, but it seems more worth it to try to purchase one. Are there any suggestions, we are both first time buyers and want to go about this the right way! We want to prepare so when it is closer to October we will know what we have to do for our search. Also, does anyone know anything about rent to own? Thanks, any information and/or suggestions are much appreciated!

Oh, also someone told me we would need a joint bank account to put our credit together to get a mortgage, is this true? I have good credit and my boyfriend has NO credit, he has never had a credit card or anything. He is applying for a credit card soon so that he can build up some credit.

I am 27 still living at home. My parents are in their 70's so I have stayed home to help them aroung the house. I am currently looking to rent an apartment because the girl I am dating her son starts kindergarten soon and we need to get a place. My question is since I have no renting history and my girlfriend does but it is not good because of her ex. They broke the lease and she says she gave him money to pay the bill but he used it for other things. That was four years ago. Are we going to have problems getting into a place cause of her past. My credit score is 709 and I am fixing to pay all of the balances down to zero. Will my credit override her bad past. If not what could we do or should we just talk to the landlords and see what they think. Maybe a high security deposit????? Thanks

I just purchased a 21,000 car that I will payoff in 5 years. My brother in law wants to purchase a similar car but since he would always pay everything in cash, he has little credit and was told he needed a co-signer to qualify.
If I co-sign for him would that hurt me when I apply for a house 1-2 years from now?
Also once his credit builds up can he take me out of the loan down the road?
thanks

2 years ago I needed the morning after pill, it was a Sunday so all clinics were closed. I went to the emergency room, it was a 5 minute visit. For fear of parents, I told them I didn't have insurance, even though I did. They gave me papers to sign, the pill, and that was that. I was so freaked out about getting pregnant that I was just happy they gave it to me. Don't judge me, I was 18 and niave. They didn't try to offer any reduced/no cost care programs or payment plans, didn't really explain anything really. I had no idea such things were available or I would have asked. NOR did they inform me that the morning after pill was still effective up to 72 hours after unprpotected sex. Yes, I know it is slightly reduced in effectiveness, but I feel they should have told me if they knew I could wait a day and avoid a $411 bill. It's already on my credit report. Is it too late to give them my insurance or to negotiate with the hospital? Do I have any options? I feel a bit wronged by them.

I was recentley in debt and was paying my bills late, so I know that I have already required some negative marks on my report. But I'm already getting offers in the mail now that my debt is paid off. Should I apply for another card?

It would take me years to pay back my entire debt to these billion dollar credit card companies, which I don't feel at all guilty about with all the interest that they charge.

However, I want to resolve my debts in order to improve my credit score. Are there any good websites that offer advice and ways to settle these debts at relatively low amounts?

Thanks in advance.

I know I've read that they do, but I've seen my credit report more than a few times and I'm sure I've never seen anything about any of these utility bills on any of the reports.

Do they just show up if you are consistently delinquent? Does that mean that paying them on time does nothing to improve your score?

wrongful arrest but I won't get my bond money back and need it back to pay rent

is there an organisation that would quick aid or pay the rent? I don't get paid for another 2 weeks. The charge was an old one that was supposedly dropped
when I proved that I was the victim of an identity theft crime.

apparently not. and no one served me anything 6 months ago but since I missed the court date of which I was not informed the police were given a warrant and arrested me - because some bozo at the bank failed to remove the court charge in time.

Now I had to spend every penny I had for rent on 10%bail which is non refundable.

Again - does anyone know an organization that would help pay my rent as a loan? I have an autistic child and cant afford to have my family thrown out. I've asked every member of my family and no one has extra money.

Does closing inactive zero balance credit cards hurt your credit, or is it better to keep them open? I have three credit cards and a gas card that I never use and considering closing.

Sooner or later I will have to get one, and I just want to do some research before I commit to a particular company.

With the pro's and con's what is the best credit card company all around?

I used $50.00 from my account to purchase a cashier's check and sent it to somone for a costume I purchased. I actually had $50.00 taken from my account and sent the check. A couple months later, the gal e-mailed to say the check bounced. I have no idea how that happened, because I have an actual receipt that $50 was, indeed, taken from my account. I did not stop payment on it or anything. Now, I am afraid she is going to want me to pay her another $50! What would have caused something like this to happen, and what can I do in this situation?

Everywhere I check, I find that a discarged bankruptcy will not come off of a credit report for ten years. Is this rule set in stone? Is it a law? Can it come off the credit report for any reason earlier than ten years?
