I used $50.00 from my account to purchase a cashier's check and sent it to somone for a costume I purchased. I actually had $50.00 taken from my account and sent the check. A couple months later, the gal e-mailed to say the check bounced. I have no idea how that happened, because I have an actual receipt that $50 was, indeed, taken from my account. I did not stop payment on it or anything. Now, I am afraid she is going to want me to pay her another $50! What would have caused something like this to happen, and what can I do in this situation?

First thing you need to do is get verifiable proof from her that she had a problem with it. Cashiers checks do not bounce as it has already been paid for. Soemthing definitley does not sound right.

How many months? Some cashier's checks are void after a certain time frame. Call the bank and give them the check number. They are able to verify the status of the check.

Cashier's Checks do NOT bounce, they are considered basically cash. Sounds like she is scamming you... get proof and bounced and if in fact, it did -- go straight to the bank and have them research it.

Been a banker for over 12 years...

Since cashiers checks and money orders are purchased with cash how can they bounce? Seems like someone is pulling a scam on you.
