I applied for a JC Penney card accidentally online, but then realized I already had that particular card, but the thing is is my credit is not as good as it was when I signed up originally and I'm SURE I won't get approved, will this affect my original card/accout? In other words, will my denial for the second card cause my original account to be cancelled due to current credit issues?

I just reserved a room with my credit card-3 days ago-however we i called tonight to ask a question the employee didn't have any record of my reservation. I am quite bothered by this because the emplyee i spoke with the other night assured me i was reserved even provided me with a room number...which i guess means nothing now. I would like to know what people can do with this info as this card belongs to mother and I need to stop anything fraudulent before it happens or goes any further ...if I need to?

I got my car over a year and a half ago... it was financed @ 19%!!!!
Is it bad to refinance?
I have a few credit cards; not behind in payments (or past due) but almost maxed out! I have also been @ my job for two years now...
Would it help to refinance?
If so, how do I go about doing this?

Let's say you have a credit card with JC Penny, for example, and then years later accidentally apply for the same card. Will this affect your current account? I know it's a weird question, but I was apply for a credit card and realized after submitting it online I already had that card.

I loaned a inlaw money in the summer of 06. At the time I loaned the money the in law agreed to start paying back in Aug 06, never happened. In Oct 06 she stated she was going to start paying us back....has not happened. Since Oct 06 she has not spoken to us about it. What should I do? I don't want to do anything legally, it is an inlaw.....but I want my money back...at least payments on a monthly basis. My husband feels his family used us. We have bills and have been tight on a budget, because we loaned away our savings.

Ok. We are really credit challenged as we had a few bad years. Our credit scores are awful at 521 and 506. I have been making the car payments on time and the credit cards will be paid off next month (have been paying monthly) I have paid in full 2 items that were in charge-offs, and have paid of the medical collections as well. Literally end of April everything will be paid off except for our cars and living expenses. Is there anything else we can do to help us along. We are hoping to purchase a home NEXT april if our scores are over 640 (is this reasonable do you think). Am I overlooking anything? Is there more than I can do? We are trying to do everything right. Is going to each Credit bureau and getting scores better than using fico? Please only serious helpful answers. Thank you for your time.

My X, out of town, filed chp. 13 in 2003. Today I got a "Notice of Dismissal" which says Notice is hereby given that on 2/21/2007, an order dismissing the above entitled case was entered (from the Bankruptcy Court). Accordingly, the automatic stay is lifted. What does that mean? I don't know if he is finished with his bankruptcy. I know when you are finished you get a discharge notice. Thanks

I will not have anything open on my credit except my car loan. Some say it's bad to close it after paying it off, but at the same time, having a paid off card with a $3,000 limit is basically a "liability". I'm not worried about accruing more debt... I have no problem putting the cards away and not using them (quite easy considering I'm in Iraq for the next year and have no use for them anyway)... My concern is that when I go to purchase a house in the next year, they will see all the "available" credit I have (that I could potentially rack up)... any ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

I heard from websites that going through credit counseling for debt consolidation or lower payments is treated like a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Apparently this would make it more difficult to get a home loan in the future? Is this true? It would help if I get responses from someone who has gone through credit counseling.

Is 665 ok (for a 22 year old)? If there's no "quck fix", what are good tips in gereal to maintain and elevate the credit score I have? Also, how many points does can the score go up each year and by what means (I know it varies form person to person).
