A friend of mine cannot get credit. They have asked me if I would mind putting in a loan application for £400 so they can buy a washer/dryer. He presented me with a completed loan application in my name but with his bank account number and my name as the account holder. I refused to sign the document as I believe it would be rejected. I would like to know what kind of checks are performed, would they have detected that the bank account was not mine? My guess is yes and this would have adversley affected my credit rating. All info welcome.

If you buy your quote off a site like equifax does that lower your credit score when you check it?

I had 2 credit cards max'd out. I've paid 1 card down, so it now only carries a balance of 30% of the credit limit. Should I continue to pay that one down to zero and start on the next, or should I now attack the other to get that balance down below 50% of the limit. I've been told my credit score will improve faster if i now throw all my extra money at the max'd out card to lower it to less than 50%. Is this true? Interest rates are the same on both.

I pay my full balance on my credit card each month. I have heard that is bad for your credit score. I have about $300 on this statement with $10 min payment. How much should I pay in this case?

OK... I know this is gonna make me sound horribly irresponisble and I guess I am or at least I was when I was in college. I opened up a checking account with a bank that offered Overdraft Protection. If you bounce a check - they cover it - you pay the bank the money. But, the evil bank manager refused to use my overdraft protection on a few bounced checks and I got stuck with several bounced check fees, etc. I got angry and stormed out of the bank and never paid them what I "owed" them because in my eyes I was screwed over by them. Needless to say, I was not considering the financial difficulties that would come later. Apparently, they've reported this to something other than my credit report - I've checked with all major credit bureaus but there is nothing listed. I can find no way to pay back my debts. I cannot open any new checking accounts with any other banks because of this. How can I make this go away - I need to be able to get a new bank account. Please Help!

Wells Fargo has the lowest interest rates, but my credit report sort of sucks because of my husband not paying his bills in the past(grr). Financers that dont care abut your credit report usually have insane interest rates.
My credit score wont go up for seven years, i learned, and im buying an suv, so i need an auto loan. Is there any place out there that will accept bad credit but doesnt have huge interest rates?

In Troy, Michigan, Dorothy Guzek, a credit counselor since 1988, has seen the changing face of foreclosure. Her clients, were predominantly poor and minorities, now increasingly they are neither. Nowadays, homeowners holding professional careers with six-figure salaries regularly drop by her office. More and more they come from upscale Michigan communities such as Independence and Clarkston, once the summer retreat for Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Co.
In the last three months, the percentage of foreclosures for U.S. homes valued at more than $750,000 has climbed to 2.5 percent. The overall rate of foreclosures also is on pace to increase by a third this year.

I got a money gram in the mail from someone. The bank said it was fake and held on to it. They told me that they would let me know in a couple of days after they look at it. If it's good that they'll let me know and I can cash it in. The lady that gave it to me still insists that it's real. They gave me copies of it, before they held onto it. What should I do? How can I find out on my own that these are real from the copies that I only now have?

Would it be better to use a different bank than your own if this is possible? I have 2 credit cards with my bank and 3 others, and want to take out a loan to consolidate them in to 1 monthly payment. Should I consider this option to pay off credit? I also know my car is worth more than my total debt.

13 yrs ago we bought a car, barely had it a year before they repossessed it. it was reported on our credit report for 7 yrs and had since been deleted. all of a sudden, out of the blue, now that we are trying to buy a house, we get a collection letter for this 13 yr old debt. it is $3,000 and we have never had that kind of money to repay that debt and still don't. can they re-instate this debt on our credit report if we do or don't respond in the 30 days? it isn't right!

They represent Paypal.

Funny how you pay for something with a chek, it is traceable but they say you didnt pay. Hmm..
Either way the supervisor I talked to was Hardy Wright and he was rude as can be. He wanted me to fax a copy of my check to him. Yeah right with all my bank numbers on it, there is too much fraud to do that.
I called Paypal and gave them the info and said take care of it, they show me as paid and account closed, they said they will take care of it.

Stay away from Paypal, they are crooks....

I contacted 2 of my creditors that listed my 2 charge cards as chargeoffs on my credit report and I requested that since they had been paid in full, could they be deleted from my report. I was told by them that they could not because they were reported as charged off, I can't believe that. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

Other than checking your credit report, how do you find out if any creditor is attempting to sue you to get judgement against you? I know that debt collectors can try to sue you without notifying you.

I am not a homeowner, and I have a personal loan that's screwing up my credit. I was just refused a great deal on a car because this loan is sitting out there, and even though I've been making monthly payments on time for 36 months, it's still high (around 9,300). I can't afford to make a "lump sum" payment, but I'd really like to get this darned loan off my credit report and off my back. Any ideas for (legal!) creative financing?
