Hi!
Carrying a balance does not improve your score at all..so if you can avoid those charges..do. Pay it off every month.

The more lines you have..the better, though. If you want to improve your score..get a few more. Manage them properly
and in time, your score will improve.

Can't get a unsecured card? Get a secured one from a real bank like Bank of America, US Bank or Wells fargo..one that is not so fee-crazy like so many of these so-called bad credit ones.

Pull your reports on a regular basis. I pull mine every thrree months now..even if I have to pay (pretty rare). Find mistakes..get them corrected. Don't try to do too much at one time..take it slow.

Have patience. It takes time as well as doing the right things.

To get credit you should pay your credit card bill before the due date by 4 days (takes 3 days to post a transaction). DO NOT wait until after the due date to pay, your credit score falls and you pay interest fees.

I pay mine in full every month. I have no idea how many "points" I'm getting but my credit score is in around 780 and I never pay a dime in interest.
