I got a call from a debt collector. She said I could make a check payment over the phone. I told her my account doesn't have enough money in it to do that. My payment is due on March 12th according to the bill they mailed to me. The woman kept insisting I make a post dated check and they will take the money out then. I told her no, I will mail the money as soon as I know I can cover it. We went back and forth on this for awhile and I told her what if the funds are not in the bank by the posted date, then I have more problems with bounced check. She was getting very annoyed with me cuz I wouldn't pay by phone. I told her I cannot give you what I don't have. I was behind in payments but this is the last one that I'm behind in and then I can pay my regular monthly bill . Any way she said Well I will be calling you every day until we receive your payment. I told her fine, look forward to hearing from her. Is this harrassment? Or is this just the way debt collection works?

I just got my credit reports from two of the credit agencies. My score was 550 on one and 625 on the other. I've started to talk to a few collection agencies and have sent payments in full to a few others.

My family needs to move sometime this summer. We would like to rent a bigger house... everywhere I look online they talk about checking credit ratings. This has me a bit worried.

So, how long do you guys think it will take my credit score to improve after these debts are payed off?

I also, only have one store credit card with a low available credit... I've never been late on that one (I've had it 3 months).

Should I try to get one Visa card, as well, and keep a low balance? Would that help?

I have some credit cards that i don't use. I talked with the credit card companies and of course they said don't cancel them but they also said that they report good credit whether you use them or not. Is there a negative to this? Or is it ok? Why or Why Not?

I want to clean up my credit and pay things off but I don't know what's more important and will help raise the score quickest. The credit cards are active except for the 890. I still get a statement but I can't use it anymore. The 450is from letting a fam member gat a phone in my name and I'm just finding out about the 197 from when I moved over a year ago. I need good advise. I want to buy a home. Thanks.

I am wanting to get a car loan. I have recently paid off a $5,000 loan and I have 3 credit cards with the total debt on them less than 30% of my total available credit all together. I have paid some credit card payments a day late at the most. will this hurt me getting a car loan?

I received a letter of demand from the on-call doctor for my hospital stay almost 4 years ago. I was admitted for chest pain and irregular heartbeat. I felt 'Doc Q' was incompetent: Sipping a soda, chating with tech staff while I had a treadmill test (the only one he ordered) and not paying attention to my dangerously high blood pressure or erratic heart beat. I had to be caught from falling off the machine by the nurses.

He came to my room telling me to 'ignore any future chest pains' and released me. The nurse's jaw dropped when he thundered out this jewel of wisdom.

After an EKG with abnormal ryhthm the next day, my personal doctor said something was wrong sent me to a cardiologist who found a murmur and put me on medication to regulate my irregular heartbeat and high BP.

I told Doc Q's billing office I felt his care inadequate and dangerous. They agreed to drop the charges.

Now here comes the demand letter - what do I do??

could that mean that I don't have any credit? because I doubt that I do. An employer is doing a credit check on me so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't in debt from anything. I had readers digest falsely charge me for "free" gifts, so the collections went after me..but this was a few years ago when I was 17 yearsold.

My chapter 7 bankruptcy was finalized in May 2006. I had a cc with Bank of America that was discharged. I still have a checking and savings account with them, and would like to reestablish credit by applying for a secured cc. Is BofA likely to turn me down because I had an account discharged with them?

If I file chapter 7 do I have to claim all of my creditors? My husband and I got a loan from our local bank. We live in a small town where everyone knows everyone else. We got the loan mostly because they know us. We don't want to cheat them out of their money because they gave us a loan with no colateral. Do we have to claim them on chapter 7 along with everyone else or can we exclude them and still make our usual payments?

I recently got a phone call from one of my accounts that is in collection, that if I didnt pay the full amount by a certain date that they were going to tell the creditor to file a judgment on me, if I dont pay in full about $4,000. I have tried contacting the credit card direct but they direct me to the collection agency and the agency basically ignored my efforts.

(Ok here is the back story, I was about $13,000 in debt and I am only 24, I know its bad but I have paid all of it but $4,000 in the 3 years I have been working on my debt. This is my last and only debt I have left to pay off.)

If they take me to court what can they take, I don't own a car, a home or anything of value, I have made efforts to pay but they insist on full amount and well I dont have $4000 but I do have $250 I can pay every month.

Is there anything I can do to let them know I am making an effort to pay and really do want to resolve this? I dont want too and cant afford to go to court.

I am a young adult who wants to start getting a good credit history. I just checked my report and I have one negative thing and I have like 4 or 5 inquiries. I disputed my negative thing for one of the indicated reasons. How can I start getting credit? Where can I apply, when I have no credit? I have 3 savings accounts and 1 checking account, but that doesn't even show up on my file. I have tried getting credit, but I am denied because I do not have a significant history. What can I do to build my credit up? Where can I start? please help!

As a college student, I've racked up some credit card debt. I have never missed a payment, and have always paid at least $5-10 over the minimum amount.

My grandfather recently passed away and he left me quite a large sum of money. What would be the best way to pay off these credit cards? Should I pay half one month, and then half the second month?

The goal here is to a) settle my credit card debt, and b) improve my credit score. The inheritance money will be released to me monthly until the amount expires (around $500 a month for the next 10 years). Any guidance/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Last night a server went knocking at my mom's door, my sister told him I did not live there. The server left, and this morning my mom found a court summons for me on an OLD debt. Am I legally binded to respond now, since the summons was not signed for and was left at my moms front mailbox? Hopefully I'm making sense, since I've only had 2 hours of sleep... Thank you in advanced...
