I may return to the USA after 11 years but I had some payment to shop cards
(JC Penney) and one telephone charge that I did not pay. The amount I owed
cards JC penney + telephone is around $1700. I also had a bounced check. I left US in 1996.

I had other cards that I paid and closed all other accounts.

I checked couple of days back my credit report through Experian and I did not have any negative points. Instead, the records that I closed some of my
credit cards without being late is however mentioned as good standing. But
there was no mention of my closed bank account.

Would this mean that the previous money that I owed is dropped ?

My question is:

1. If I come back to the US, any problems in opening a bank
account ?

2. Obtaining credit cards - will there be any issue ?

3. Is Experian a reputed agency ?

5. If I lived in a particular state during my stay in US, would Experian
not capture the entire history ?

Please let me know.
Thanks
Suk

I can't believe some of the limits some of my credit card companies put on my cards. I have this Amex that I've had for 12-14 years, it started with 4K- or 5K or something..it's up over 100K, the other one is 80K. I have a Chase card with 45K and a Citi (DP) card over 40K. It's not like I use them all the time...maybe 1K a Month then pay in full before the statement arrives..I pay on-line these days. What do they think I'm going to do BUY YACHT!!! I sat down the other day out of curiousity and added up my credit limits on all my cards..it came to $960.500...almost a million dollars!! This is crazy, then they wonder why stupid people get themselves in credit card debt...I'm very responsible with my credit but I could easily see how some would go out and buy everything in sight because they can...but them can't afford to pay it back. It just seems to me to be to much temptation for people 19-30 who love "things" and can't help themselves. I think some blame some be the CC companies

I have heard that after 7 years, items can be removed from your credit report.. is it 7 years since the account was opened, 7 years since any activity on the account, or 7 years since the account was closed? Also, what do I need to do to remove these items? Thanks!

Ive recently applied for credit, but the lenders advised that i have £14 against my name unpaid, which i cant understand. They adv its from a retail store-Now the only thing i can think of is that i have a store card with the arcadia group, which i have paid off in full a few months ago so the balance is now zero.Yet this £14 has been owed since dec 2004. Why has nobody contacted me before to advise i owe this money.I have recieved no letters, or phonecalls and now when i ask for credit i get refused even tho i was not made aware i owed anything..The lenders have adv to get a credit report from experian which i have sent off to do, but when this comes through i am not sure what to do next. Will i be able to pay off the £14, or will i not ever be able to get credit due to this reason. If its the latter then i am not happy, as i feel this is unfair. i pay off my bills reguarly and never miss payments? anyone else had similar situation. did u manage to settle the debt and get credit?

My child, 17, received a credit card in the mail [he used a fake birthdate, but his real SSN]; he spent 550 on it, but can only afford to pay 100 of it. I read in another post, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApAYRFeaNcWTDznv96FE.5ojzKIX?qid=20060930190733AAEy61Z, that we can cancel the account.

Will he receive bad credit, though?

I currently have quite a bit of debt and it feels as if I am never going to dig out of this hole that I am in. Any advice, except "cut up the cards" would be appreciated. I only use the card in emergencies; however, with a baby that seems to be quite often as I just don't make enough money.

I have a decent credit score (650-700), lived at my resident long enough, been at my job long enough (almost 2 years) and make more than enough money to get a loan. I have paid on the car for 7 months on a 6 year loan. The interest rate is over 20% right now and have an excellent payment history on all my accounts/credit cards. So far, most reputable financing companies have rejected me online. I will soon go to banks and credit unions. Any suggestions?

I have a best buy store card, but I want to apply for the reward zone mastercard and use it at other places then just best buy, and then just cancel the store card so I dont have to have excess credit cards sitting around in my wallet. Is there anyway I could like "upgrade" to the mastercard? Or would I have to apply for that and just cancel my best buy card?

Some people who sell items in different countries say Western Union...and with credit card. But is this site liability? If an item isnt shipped, do they give money back, or what?

I am nervous:( Has anyone ever used Western Union with a sales person...and theyve gotten money back, because someone took the money and didnt send the item out?

I guess Pay Pal isnt popular in some countries

I have 3 derogatory accounts on my credit score. I have settled them. They were charge offs and I settled them through a collection agency. Is there any way to remove these accounts becasue I think they are absolutely killing my credit score. Also, they have not been reported as being settled yet. I just settled them a month a go. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the collection agency to report these settlements? Please help.

My bank is offering me a pre-approved LOC; the rate is 2% above Prime (6% I think). The rate will always stay the same. I know I will have to pay it back, similar to a loan. I have a balance on my credit cards at this time. Is it a good idea?

I know by law the agencies have to give u a free report annually but how do u get it without signing up? Is there anywhere online where you don't ahve to sign up for anything to get your report? If not will the bank give it to me?
