About a year ago, I opened a joint bank account and the co-applicant deposited a payroll check. Assuming the check was good, bills were sent out, but only to find out that the employer of the coapplicant couldn't support the amount nor payroll for a hand full of other employees. Several over draft fee's were applied to my account. So being the head of the account, I was then legally responsible for the amount of the co-applicants payroll check, in addtion to several over draft fees. I have tried, but cannot open an checking account with banks without comfermation that the co-applicant has assumed responsability, as he has claimed to have. He has also stress that the employer was addressed in court and that she was found not responsible for paying it back or redepositing it."so he says"and issue has not been resolved. I would rather pay a lawyer a , hopefully smaller amount, before taking responability.Should i go ahead and start to make payments or waite for a lawyer?

I filed bankrupt about 2 years ago. I've considered contacting the creditors that were involved to see if they'd work something out with me as far as my paying these debts off. I'm wondering if I pay them off would they put something on my credit report that states that I've paid as agreed or something that wouldn't make the bankrupt look so bad. At the time I was ill and I tried to work with a company to work on the debt however the company was being paid a lot and was offering me no service at all. I've since then gotten my money back but the end result was my filing bankrupt. My car was included in the bankrupt in error and I've been paying on that faithful because I explained that my car was never suppose to be added to the bankrupt. I faxed some original documentation that stated that the typed documents were incorrect therefore the company was willing to work with me. Do anyone know if there is anything that I can do to clean up my credit history as far as the bankruptcy?

Just curious. I'm driving a 2003 automatic. My MPG on the gauge is around 47 lifetime, but my actual computed mpg is exactly 44. Is this about right for you also? Not bad, but not up to specs on sticker. Do others have a 3+ mpg difference in what the car says you are getting and what you are actually getting? Thanks

When do I make my first payment for my car loan? I am financing a car and picking it up tomorrow, just needed to know if I need the first payment up front or if I pay the first payment in a month?

I had the dealer set up the financing for me, it was cheaper that way.

Almost 6 years ago I received CCJ's for unpaid credit cards which I have paid off in full. I have run good accounts since, my bank have now given me a Visa Debit Card again and a cheque book but no one except for capital one will lend e anything at all.

Now I am older and more sensible, I would like to clean my record, but it seems impossible. I know people who went bankrupt just a couple of years ago who can already get credit.

What do I need to do? Can anyone advise?

I just checked my credit report and I have a credit card listed as "Closed by Grantor". The card was closed after debt management. My credit score is in the excellent range, should I be overly worried about this and how would I go about changing it?

basically this is a selfish question, because a friend of mine is moving out of state, and he wants to buy a home, and basically I dont want him to leave
:(
but on the other hand, if he does leave i do want to help him and be successful in getting his own home. He has no open lines of credit, everything on his report (almost everything) is a charge off or collection. I am a loan officer but i dont do mortgages. I just want a little info: could he get a mortgage at all? would he have to put money down? would he get a horrible interest rate? does his chances vary from state to state? any and all information would be helpful. Thanks!

I have 3 store credit cards that I just paid totally off this week. The only other credit card I have is a Amazon Visa. Since the Visa has a lower intrest rate than the store CC I carry.......it is the only one plan on using in the future. Should I call and cancel out the 3 of the store CC I still carry around? Would this hurt my credit rating at all. My rating has slipped because of 2 late payments, but those were on the accounts I have currently paid off. The credit limits on them are: $120.....$650........$1,000.

The one I carry has a limit of $6500. I have heard that if you call a CC company and ask them to lower you CC limit, it also hurts your rating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ThX!

I applied online for a credit card offer I was given. I was trying to balance transfer and considerable sum of money. after entering my information I was told they needed more time to process my application and I would hear back in the mail. Does that mean I am most likely declined or do they really just need more time?
