When do I make my first payment for my car loan? I am financing a car and picking it up tomorrow, just needed to know if I need the first payment up front or if I pay the first payment in a month?
I had the dealer set up the financing for me, it was cheaper that way.

let me add a few things here cause it seems im getting flamed ;)
Ive been in complete contact with my dealer a few times a day. The lady that knows all my numbers from the financial office is off today, so no one can give me a correct answer from the dealer. Just basically wanted to know what usually happens with car payments from other people. I have NOT signed anything yet, as I pick up my car tomorrow and no signings will be made by me until I inspect the car myself and make sure everything is final. But since I cannot get an answer until tomorrow morning about payments, I wanted to see what other people have done.

Dude, call the dealer and ask him. Take a check just in case. No one in Yahoo Answers is privy to the contract you signed, which, incidentally states when the first payment is due.

You set your first payment due date...most finance officers for a car dealer won't give you an option but you have a choice of either 30 or 45 days from the day you take delivery of the vehicle...a couple of tips: 1) if you choose 45 days for your first payment your monthly payment for the full term of the loan will be slightly higher but it is better than struggling if you have a whole bunch of bills due the same day 2) make sure the date on your contract is the day of delivery sometimes contracts are pre-prepared so you lose out on a couple of days...ant questions let me know

Ask the dealer or have him give you the number of the company who financed your car. When I got my loan my payment was due the next month.

you had better read the whole contract for this loan before you do anything and the dealer is required to go over with you, generally first payment is 30 45 days after signing papers . Please read contract and understand what you are getting into.

it is usually by the following month, about 30 days. sometimes you can call up the financing company and they will let you pick when is the best time in the month to set up your due date....beg, middle, end.

DUDE, DID YOU SIGN A CONTRACT? DID THEY GIVE YOU A COPY OF SAID CONTRACT? THEN READ THE DAMN THING. IF NOT YOU WILL HAVE TO SIGN ONE TOMORROW AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHEN THE FIRST PAYMENT IS DUE. MOS IMPORTANT OF ALL IS TO READ THE CONTRACT. MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO HIDDEN CLAUSES THAT MAKE YOU PAY MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH.
