What is 'your' credit score? What are the advantages/disadvantages of 'your' score. If it's not good, what are the bad things? (medical bills, credit card debt, late payments), etc. Your (non-identifying) specific answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I had a card with discover and i had to pay medical bill ect with that card on thing led to another and they were not willing to work with me at all. they told me they are going to charge it off but that was like 4-5 years ago. I then got a phone call from a nasty man demanding 6,700 for that card. if they are able to take you to court, how do they go about doing it? Do you get a letter in the mail or do they have a officer summons it to you? I have some friends also that say they were threatened by the collection agency stating that they were giving them 24 hours to pay or they would be summoned to court the next morning. Is that possible?

Hello,
last week i got a call from a very mean person asking for my wife. I told him that she was not here. This guy asked who i was i told him her husband. He then told me she is in big big trouble. I asked him what about, he said that he is from a law firm and there is a pending law suit for against your wife. It was for a cc card that she opened 5 years ago and only made a few payments. He told me i have to pay him 2200 now or else he is going make life a living hell for us. I told him to send proof. so here comes this letter from a completly diffrent organization a law firm demanding 3100 for that debt. I pulled up her credit report and it shows that a account has been opened with Portfolio associates seince may of 2005. I belive the orginal balance was 1k for capital 1 she had some financial problems being out of work. A friend told me to talk to a lawyer and they will fix it, it will cost about 300 bucks. is this true, this company sounded shady.,

Ok here is the thing, i see people owing thousands of dollars in debt and get away with not being forced into paying it. For cc companies/collection companies dont sue because its too much hassle and cost too much. Then if they do get a judgement the person who had to pay it back goes bankrupt or fazzes off the map. So it ends up being a bad mark on the credit bo who! In my opinon it should be a crime/fraud. you are basically stealing. Any one else can give an opinion/ eather way.
Thx
