My concern is that all of my loans will be in one lump sum on a credit card. There will no longer be any auto loan or student loan. It will look like I went shopping and won't look very responsible

I will need to divorce him soon and wonder if that is possible on 2 separate continents? He is crazy mind you, and is fleeing from all responsibility, both the debt he incurred while we were together, and his family responsibilities.

got a call on june 13 from a collection agency telling me i owe them 6,000. i told time for what? for a sears financial card you opend 6 years ago. I told them 1 i dont have 6k to give you and i need more info. The guy told me to shut up i dont want to hear your belly aching, you have had 5 years to payit. then he told me i have till the end of the day to take care of this or else i would file a lawsuit and take away your paycheck. I hung up the phone! I traced the phone # got the compaines name. A friend told me to write them right away a certified letter providing an undersigned verification of the debt. and change your phone #, and pull your credit--i did and a sears card was charged off about 5 years ago for 3100...note i did have some finacial difficutly with my X. I then got a court summons in last week for 8100. I called this guy up and asked where the verfication is, he laughed sayed he dint have to respond so are you going to pay 6k or go to court for 8100?

I have two mortgages that was created when I financed my home to better my credit scores. After about 2 years, both mortgages were to be refinanced into one with a lower rate. The 1st mortgage was at 6 something % and the second at 11%. Recently, my mortgage company only refinanced my largest mortgage that was at around 6% and changed the rate to about 9%. The 2nd one was not included in the refinancing.
It is stated in original papers that both would be refinanced into one mortgage and to a lower rate.
My credit score is only 597 and considered fair. Would it be too early to shop around for another company to get a better deal?
Thanks.

I'm 26 and up until now have had impeccable credit -- I have 4 credit cards that I've held for between 3 and 7 years, all always paid on time, a mortgage started 3.5 years ago always paid on time, and a couple of car loans that have been paid off. But recently, I was contacted about a bill that I never heard of before, and am being threatened to have a collections agency go after me and post a negative item on my credit report. The bill is $500 and I could pay it, but I feel like this is extortion and I shouldn't play along. If they do post a negative item that I can't get rid of, how much can it drop my credit score?

a year ago i was seppareted from my wife, and i was unble to make the monthley payments on my credit card, and i tried to explian to the collection agency, and since then im still struggling to keep my house, that i rent, and keep my car, the collection has gone to a lawyer, who now wont except any of my offers, and has gone to a court. to get a judgment on me. what will hapeen? will i loose stuff? how can i fix this, the bill is almost 2000 dollars, i can only afford to pay 75 a month, but he wont except anything but the full amount,, ps... in the state where i lve, they can not garnish my wages, so will this just sit on my credit report? or will they come to my house and take my computer, and tv and stuff?

So here's the next question in my credit-card cleanup.
I have a card that I just paid off, and it has an excellent APR on purchases. Now, I'm sure I should just ask the credit company, but why not pick the brains of the Yahoo! Answerers out there and see what you think?
How long do I need to have the card at $0 balance to stop getting hit with finance charges? The card I have charges on the average daily balance, which can be quite high in a month I've had a lot of activity, even if I paid off the last statement in full. I don't think my card has a "no charges on new purchases" clause but I can find out. It is a Chase Amazon.com Visa, signed up for it several years ago when the AP was a fixed 8.9%
What I'd like to do, though, is get the card to $0 balance and just continue to pay off in full monthly, to avoid finance charge. Or, is it too late for that now?

Thanks!
