Some people who sell items in different countries say Western Union...and with credit card. But is this site liability? If an item isnt shipped, do they give money back, or what?

I am nervous:( Has anyone ever used Western Union with a sales person...and theyve gotten money back, because someone took the money and didnt send the item out?

I guess Pay Pal isnt popular in some countries

When you western Union money, it is gone and there is basically no way to get it back. If you are selling something online and they want to pay for it using western union, the chances are that they are running a scam. Many criminals commiting fraud use this because it is difficult to track people down. Always use paypal, or you'll risk losing your money and being held responsible. Also, if they send you a money order for more than the amount for the item and ask you to western union the extra back, it is definitely a scam! The check will be returned to your account and you'll be penalized on top of all the money they were supposed to give you will be gone. Plus, whatever you sold to them will already be shipped out and you won't get it back!

I work at a bank and I see this scam all the time. NEVER accept a personal check or money order for payment on an item sold online!

Western Union is very reliable, quick (the recipient can collect within a day of sending money) and there are plenty of branches in the area. For these qualities, the cost is greater compared to other agencies. Personally always have smooth transactions with Western Union.

The reason Pay Pal isn't popular is because they have checks and balances in place to prevent fraud and the crooks hate it!

Western Union allows you to send money to an invidual without requiring much from the receiver in the form of proof they are the person they say they are. Usually you loose your money as it's untraceable once picked up.

Never buy international if you can avoid it.

Good Luck

Western Union is a good company, you have nothing to worry about. Once the item was not able to ship you can make a complaint to get your money back just make sure you have the proof of purchase on hand, like your receipt.

Western Union is one of the oldest and largest money transfer networks worldwide. It is one the safest way to receive money since it is not possible to reverse the transaction, especially if the amount is received in cash. More details available at

I have Western Union at my place of business and have never had any customers complain about anything yet. Maybe you should try going to the Western Union website and look for a toll free number to call and ask them about their policy.

There is no purchase protection when you use Western Union. They even tell you it's dangerous to use wire transfers for purchases made on-line.

Don't do it!
