When I graduate from college, I'd like to move to a big city in Italy (Rome or Florence) and work.

I am from a small town with one of the smallest crime rates in the nation. My mom is really worried because I will only be 22 when I move. She thinks that it would be dangerous for a young girl like me to move to a big foreign city all alone. (Its like shes afraid I'll get raped or something...) Is the world outside of my small hometown really that dangerous? I am just naive? Please help!

(I am pretty close to fluent in Italian, and I've traveled to Italy a few times, so dont give me that "Life isnt like 'Under the tuscan sun'" and "you dont know what youre getting into" crap. Im pretty independant...)

I have a job working in sales. And it is killing me. I see other coworkers in other offices who (looking from my perspective) seem to have an advantage in sales because of their location. I love the customer service part of my job...helping people, getting them into the right product or service...But I also have quotas. How do I get good leads? How else can I get my name out there besides cold calls? How far will networking REALLY get me? How do I network? Why do I feel like I am busting my hump with little progress? HELP!

I've been on medical disability for the past 3 1/2 years after working for 6 years and will be looking for a job soon. How do I explain this job gap on a resume? Also, in preparation for getting back to work, I've been volunteering this past year. Do I include this and if so, where?

My boss and I have a very close relationship and have been working together for over one year. What is strange is that he he withholds a lot of information regarding his wife, time they spend together, and his kids from me yet opens up a lot more to his administrative assistant who has only been around for a couple months. Why is this?

This is a rhetorical question I just want to hear opinions:
If smoking is a choice and religion is a choice why is it OK to discriminate against smokers but not religion?

This is a rhetorical question I just want to hear opinions:
My employer asked me if i've ever "considered going on the nicotine patch during work hours?" so that I don't take smoke breaks during the day. Is this considered discrimination? I know smoking is a choice but so is religion. That is to say, you are not born catholic, jewish, athiest... at some point in life you "choose" to honor these religious beliefs. thus if smoking = choice; religion = choice ...see my point?

Job 1 is a 20 minute drive, pays good, starts in a little over a week and is just work but not that bad.

Job 2 is a 40 minute drive, pays better, starts in a month from now and is closer to the work I'm looking for.

I know that Its a little late in the game, However I stopped going to college out of pure laziness, and had a pretty good job.... well all good things come to an end... However I am considering going back to school with the hopes of ending up in med school, and ultimately a psychiatrist... of which my mentor is.... wondering if it would be even worth it at this age... 33... any thoughts?

Give an example of a time when you have seen an oppertunity to improve something at work or outside of work, and have acted upon it.

Describe a situation where you have had to deal with a difficult customer/situation. What did you do? What was the outcome?

Any help would be greatly appreciated o_O

would you take a fun traveling job that pays more but would not take you closer towards any of your personal/life goals (eg citylife, masters, career ambitions, wife, etc). Essentially it would put your life on hold and build up your bank account in another state for a year

I attend college in Minnesota and will relocate to the Denver metro area in January 2008. I will begin sending my resume out in February. In a perfect world, I would be able to schedule all of my interviews during a one week period in the summer.

What is the appropriate way to go about this? Should I mention that, "I will be in the area between XYZ dates and would be available for a face-to-face interview at that time?"

I would like to thank you in advance for taking time out of your day to assist me in my efforts. Truly, your help is appreciated!

Best Regards,

Joshua

I have applied for a supermarket job about 10 times now at 5 different supermarkets. I am 18 years old and I am going to a community college. I have volunteer work experience, and the supermarkets say they will hire anyone who is able to work in the US. These supermarkets were hiring when I applied, and I did qualify for the job.

I was wearing a bottoned down shirt and a nice pair of pants when I handed in the applications and my resume. I also made follow-up phone calls after I applied.

I started my online business about four years ago and it's doing very well. So well in fact, that I've thought of opening a little boutique downtown. One problem, I fear jumping in with both feet & leaving my career. I've been there for 10+ years and the benefits are GREAT. However, I know it will kill me to have to hire someone to run "my" business because I have to work elsewear. I'll want to be there, hands on. Suggestions???
