I have been told that the university courses like the bachelor of commerce and bachelor of business are a dime a dozen and they just give you a brief overall knowledge of IT and don't give you specialist skills that you need to command a high salary and these qualifications just get you jobs like working in a company and fixing peoples computers and working in the IT call centers. I want to study in a specialisst field, security interests me, you guys got any thoughts on this?

..Ok so look. I am a college student in Las Vegas, NV. I have my own 2 bd 2 br apt, no job and I'm about to turn 21 in like a week. Oh and I got a bench warrant for some bs that happened bacc in Cali which got my license suspended, but that's kinda irrelevant.

I have plenty of ?'s but to keep this short, what kind of job can I get that will provide a solid and legitimate income? And not none of these lil punk-*** bottom-feeder jobs like McDonalds or ish like that. I can't live off of minimum wadge and these employment agencies out here are lame. Most of my work experience comes from clerical/ data entry or warehouse jobs but I can do pretty much anything cuz I have bomb work-ethics.

I need to find a job within the next 2 weeks that will help me pay off all this bull and get my L's bacc at least by January. Any advice?

I've recently been filling out applications and I decided not to post most of my work history. These jobs that I did not post were held for less than 2 months or ones I felt were not relevant. When they run my background check, will they see all jobs I've had?

I work at a daycare, and usually 90% of the time someone in the center is sick (either staff or a child). I came into work sick knowing that I was not able to call off, due to that I am the only teacher in the preschool room. My co-worker decided to inform me later, that if I am not allowed to go home, and I understood the reason. However, I did not understand the ultimatium that I recieved from my boss, that I will be suspended if I do not make a doctor's appointment. I do not receive health insurance from this employer and I can not afford to go to the doctor. They also strictly frown on any call offs (doctor's excuse or not), especially myself because I am the only teacher for that room (and I do not have a replacement). I am getting better, but they are still hounding me to go to the doctors, when I can't afford it. I understand their empathy but can an employer suspend a sick employee for not going to the doctors? is that legal?

I am working in IT, but would like to quit IT if possible. I am under 35 years of age. I would be interested in other line of work. I'd like to get your suggestions for something that does not take that much training, and legal high paying line of work. I don't care if it's dangerous.

However, I exclude going to Afghanistan or Iraq as a Army enlistee. That would not be the type of life I want to live.

I was told on Friday by a co-worker that they have been asked to be in my performance review. When the Copy Director left the company right after I was hired, the decision was made to hire a senior copywriter instead. I was told when she started that even though I am a junior copywriter; she is in no way over me. We both report to the same person and have been working as equals for the past 6 months. Being one of my peers, it seems wrong for her to be in my performance review. Yes, I do look to her for guidance, but her being in my review will make the situation more awkward and even embarrassing. My husband suggests I speak to my supervisor before the review, but I would like proof that this is illegal before I proceed. Does anyone know of any laws against a co-worker being in a performance review?

Thats better than allowing the employee to come in, thinking he's going to work, and then telling him there that his job is gone. For majpr things like that, the manager should call the employee right away and let him know.

OK, im filling out an application to GameStop. This is my first ever application to fill out and it says:

List 2 references below that we may contact who are familiar with your work performance. Use personal reference, (Not Relatives), only if you have no employment references.

So what I'm asking is, what does that mean? Do i put my mom and dad as references? Or do i put friends?

I'm hoping to get a job over winter break, but I would only be able to work for about a month. Is there any place (i.e. department store, restaurants, etc.) that would hire if I tell them I can only work for a short period of time? Has anyone else done this? Thanks.

It sounds kind of snotty to say, but I don't know what else to think at this point. My boss is an ok guy but he cannot grasp ideas or concepts as quickly as I can....he works very slowly, and the tiniest change freaks him out. He'll literally start to turn red and clench his fists like a 3 year old in the midst of a tantrum. He gets very frustrated when he tries to explain something to me that I already get. If I come up with an idea or a solution to an issue too quickly, he'll initially tell me no, don't do it that way, then try to figure it out himself, only to conclude that I was right in the first place. It's a delicate situation because I don't want to offend him or piss him off, but I can't really slow my thought process down to please him, and I shouldn't have to--I mean, I thought productivity was kind of a key component to business, you know? Has anyone ever had a similar experience? If so, how did you handle it?

Ok let's say that there's a job opening and there are 2 applicants.

1. A man who graduated magna *** laude from an unknown university and got a Masters from another unknown university. But he has 30 years of experience.

2. A man who was valedictorian of his high school class who got his MBA from Harvard yesterday. He also has a PhD from Yale. During undergraduate study he graduated Summa *** Laude. However he has minimal work experience.

Who would you hire?
