Ok let's say that there's a job opening and there are 2 applicants.

1. A man who graduated magna *** laude from an unknown university and got a Masters from another unknown university. But he has 30 years of experience.

2. A man who was valedictorian of his high school class who got his MBA from Harvard yesterday. He also has a PhD from Yale. During undergraduate study he graduated Summa *** Laude. However he has minimal work experience.

Who would you hire?

Probably #1, because of the experience, all other things being equal.

If I had to make this choice I would give these two applicants a test you created that is part of the responsibilities of this position. This test you give will not be a book test but a test on some of the task and responsibilities this applicant needs to do, just so you can see if this applicant can get the concept of handling this position.

You will then realize the 30 years of experience will kick in as work experience is what you will need to get the job done now. The Harvard experience is great if you have the time to train as applicants with little or minimal work experience take much longer to learn and grasp the responsibilities to do the job. Wish you luck.

It would depend a lot on the job I was hiring for. If the duties were close to the experience of the first guy, I'd probably hire him. Otherwise it could be close, and would depend on what each showed in the interviews. Some would depend on who seemed like he would get along in the workplace, especially if the job involved working in teams to complete projects. If one of the candidates acted like a know-it-all or like they thought they were better than everyone around, I'd most likely hire the other person. Since both of these people would be interviewing for professional, fairly high-level jobs, I'd have them interview with some of the people they'd be working with, or people who would be working for them, and solicit opinions from those people also.

i think of the belief of huge exchange on the horizon continuously has a cooling consequence on organization pastime. the belief of doing organization is to make income. maximum companies reallly do no longer make that should return on investment so the decissions made are considerable and ought to evaluate all components heavily. while a sort of components is undertaking to alter the uncertainty leads to hesitation. notwithstanding if the proposed variations are a sturdy element, the prudent organization individual will wait till the information are in before making a pass.

Do you need short term results or are you looking for long term?

Short term #1, long term NEITHER. The young person will be leaving you as soon as he has enough experience to get a better job.
