I have worked for 5 companies, and only one required drug testing. I had to take a drug test to get hired, and also take random drug tests. This was at a huge multi national fortune 100 corporation.
3 of the companies I worked for were start ups and/or small companies, and they did not do any drug testing.
I have worked for one other company. It is a huge multi national fortune 100 company, and they do not do drug testing. It is a much younger company than the company that I did have to take drug tests for though.
I would never work at a company that required pre-employment or random drug tests again. It's degrading. (Drug tests for cause would be fine with me though.)
I work in a professional office setting.

For certain jobs, drug and blood tests are carried out. You could always ask the employers why they need to take these samples. (Im guessing you had to do one?)

Not for Taco Bell, but for pretty much anything that pays a couple of dollars or more per hour than Taco Bell, they generally want a pee test.
Also, all temp agencies in my area these days seem to want either a pee test or a saliva test.

Many will do urine screens which is a good idea. That way they can weed out the weed heads.
