i work at a fast food resrtaunt right now. i have an interveiw at a video store on tuesday. they pay alot more, and its going to be worth it if i get hired. but i want to start right away. but i still want to give the restraunt a 2 week notice. what should i do?

i usually only work nights at the restaunt, so i have considered asking for morning hours for the first 2 weeks at the video store, and still work nighttimes at the restruant..is this a good plan?

Very smart plan. You should give a two-week notice before leaving. It's not only to build your good credit, but also to protect yourself in case there will something happen at your new work place that you don't know yet, then you can come back and work at the restaurant. Further, you can ask your supervisor at restaurant to be your referee in future. Or he/she may become your supervisor again in future. Who knows? Always keep good relationships with your immediate boss!

Yes.......I think if you can handle working the two jobs and get your 2 week notice that is always the right thing to do.............then do it. If it's too much for you, then give immediate notice to your boss . Make sure you DO have the job at the video store first. An interview doesn't automatically mean you are hired. Once you have the interview and they hire you and ask when you can start, tell them in two days to give some notice to the fast food place. Good luck!

Sounds like a good plan if you can handle working the extra hours and the Video Store manager says OK. Just explain you want to be fair to your current employer and give them notice.
Your new boss will appreciate the fact that you are courteous to your current employer.

That definately sounds like a good idea. Never leave the current job without proper notice. You made need them as a reference someday.

Give notice and start the other job after you are able to quit the first.
