I have been on my job for almost a year now, i am 6 months pregnant, i just lost my license, i live 30 miles away from my work, and i am running out of options to get rides. My job consists of appointments and i have some bookd out 6 weeks in advance. My fiance wants me to go in and tell them tomorrow that i will work until the end of the week, but i do not want to leave them without a massage therapist (o that is what i do and i am the only one) with our busy season coming up. i need advice. what should i do?

I applied for a great job and have had two interviews, had all my refrences checked, my college transcripts checked and now they just had me to take a drug test and sign for a criminal background check and said that the background check ussually takes 1 1/2 - 2 weeks and that they would be in touch.

Thats all they said, they never said I was hired or would be hired if everything comes out good they just said we'll be in touch.

What should I think of this, and is this a really good sign that they will probably hire me and just want to make sure everything is good before making a offer?

I am on the quest of searching for the perfect job. I have had 3 jobs this year and they all were good. I get paid good money but I am not the type to just sit around all day and do nothing at work. I like to stay busy. (As you can see, I don't do anything at work, that's why I'm here asking questions.)

Do you think I am lucky making good money to do nothing?

Years ago, I was accused of sexual harrassment once. Was I guilty? You tell me.

I was walking in the hallway and these two young attractive women, dressed in very short skirts, high heels, low cut blouses, and like they were going to go clubbing that night walked by. I admit I stopped and stared. They reported me for sexual harrassment. I wasn't their boss or even in their same area of the building.

Is that sexual harrassment?

It finally happened - I got a bad boss. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Among other really horrible things, such as sitting ON my desk and taking out his dentures in front of everyone and taking personal calls during meetings in front of everyone and knocking over people's plants etc etc, is his dreadful habit of constantly interrupting people's work and skulking around the office like a teacher during a test. I looked this up to find fellow sufferers and was astonished to find out that this is considered a valid and desireable management style called "Management by Walking Around". Are you kidding me? Slinking around and constantly interrupting people's work?

What do you think of MWA? How do you get any work done with a boss like this?

An older friend of mine told me that his tip for success at the job is to not get involved in any Office Politics. He says he does not mix with his coworkers so he can avoid all office politics.

I thought about that advice for awhile and rejected it. I feel one has to mix both socially, culturally and organizationally to be part of the team. You also have to play office poltics if you want to compete with others in the office for raises, influence and promotions.

What do you think?

argh. I am so frustrated. I really wanted this one. I kinda lost a bit of conficence when meeting with the president... but other than that all went really well. How long does it usually take to hear back? They aren't checking my references because they don't have them! Maybe I'll just give up on life.

I have been looking for a change of work environments for the past couple of years. I have sent out resumes applying for quite a few positions none of whom I have received an interview from. I have 12 years experience in municipal government in a very large city and I cannot understand what I need to do to spark interest in my resume. It has all the key words and ideas that I think would pertain to such a job. Everyone in the field tells me that there are many people retiring from city manager work and very few young people coming in, so their are more positions than people to fill them. Why can't I seem to find one of those positions? Can anyone offer me some advice?

Considering a new job offer here and trying to decide. If you are at quota at 100%, both plans would be equal. If you exceed quota, 70% plan seems to be better. Thoughts?

I really hate the job, the actual work, compliants, disorganization, and poor management. The only thing that is good is the money. I am in the process of finding another job but taking my time because I am expected to get a good bonus in January. I really hate my job though!

Just asking for opinions, but do you think its worth staying here for two more months putting up with this BS for a bonus or should I just put in my two weeks and move on.

Just asking for opinions.

I had to go to the emergency room late last night, and was extremely sick until about 5am this morning. I had hoped that somehow I would be able to make it to my interview this morning anyway, but it was scheduled for 10am, and I passed out around 8 this morning, and didnt wake up until about 11:30. I have put so much time and energy into trying to get this job, and then this happened..I feel horrible that I wasted someones time, and im sure they now think I am just some irresponsible girl that doesnt want this job, but I want this job so much! Is there anything can I do? Will they schedule another interview for me if I call and explain to them what happened?

Are they obligated to hire you back if work becomes available?

My company laid me off in October, with about 10 other people. I now see a job (exactly like mine) posted on a job board. But they have not called me back.

I am currently a student and i work for the college in a kicthen in the dineing halls. I have many female coworkers that get paid the same as me despite the fact that i do 3 quarters of there jobs. For example when one of the girls has tpo do pasta (about 100 pounds at a time) I have to stop what im doing to load it into the pot for her then she stands there and does nothing untill its time to take it out where I have to then again stop what im doing to do that for her. I then have to pour the sauce and carry it where it needs to go because the girls all claim they are not strong enough. Its like that with every single job their including things like taking out garbage and cleaning (if stuff has to be moved) I have to do my job and their jobs for the same minimum wage payment and it is not fair.

I am not sexist at all this is not equal pay for equal work because i do all the work!

I've been working a steady temp job over the past 6 months. Over the holidays in December, I'm going to have about a week, maybe more, with no work. But I'll be back to the same job after that week. Unfortunately, I can't really afford not to work... Can I claim unemployment for that one week without work??
