same way as all these 'clever schemes' work ..

They tempt you with 'flash money' ... you start to believe whatever story they are spinning and are soon 'sucked in' (hence the term 'sucker') ..
.. after they have taken your money you discover you have paid through the nose for nothing much ...

Never heard of that one specifically. I just finished writing a series of articles on this topic and found a bottom line: Hold on to your wallet. If the business is really good, they will not be trying to get you to put so much money up front.
