I have been working at BMW as a lot attendant since March of 2007. I am a very hard worker and try very hard to make sure everything they ask me to do is done. On May 13 I tore my ACL and MCL away from the job and wasn't able to work for a month. I returned to work wearing a knee brace awaiting surgery. My hours are M-T-TH 7am-8pm+overtime and W-F 7am-6+ overtime and S 9am-5pm+overtime. My manager noticed how determined I am and started moving me up and I recieved a raise. Recently though every time something is wrong my manager gets me written up. I have been working my hardest to make sure everything gets done but when your under staffed, and injured it makes it hard to do everything by yourself. On July 11th I reinjured my knee and probably won't be able to work for awhile. Today is July 12th and a coworker informed me that my manager had written me up again for something that was not important. My manager already has lawsuits of harrassment against him, what do I do?

After working at a place for a few weeks, which sounds better when quitting?

a) Saying you're leaving because you were offered a better paying job.
VS.
b) Saying you're leaving because you feel it's not a good fit.

*Even though the real reason is B, I could just tell them that I've found a better job if that sounds better.

I love temping and have done since 1998. I meet different people and am not in the same place. I come across people who think me weird. I get, "Can't you get a proper job?" and "What do you mainly do?" and "Why do you temp?". I just love it, but at the same time I'm self conscious about what people are thinking of me.

I'm thinking of working full-time, but what puts me off is the possibility of coming home late at night (might not be very safe) and walking about the streets at night. Any advice?

Well I'm a 16 year old girl considering accepting a job which is basically working at a pub, with a bit of waitressing, but mostly washing up and stuff. I would get paid £5 an hour plus £25 a month in tips...I've never had a job before and would like to accept this job, but my older sister works at the same place and says the boss sometimes yells at you and the work is really hard and everything...so i don't know :| Do you think this sounds like a good offer?!

It is a well known fact the Sheffield court have damaged 1000 of childrens lives. There have been several protests and their is an investigation in progress. If anyone knows of other cases at Sheffield let me hear about them. And hopefully people around the world will put pressure on this court to sort out their fraudulent officials.

The situation is I work at an advertising/pr firm and to compensate for lower salary , I am thinking about taking a part time job as a bartender or maybe waitress

My question in this context is: do you think that holding such a job or anything similar to it can potentially undermine my credibility in the professional environment?
This my prime reservation

I am going for my Bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in either communication or sociology, I also plan on taking some biology courses. I want to be a Medical Social Worker with emphasis on neonatal care(preferably preemies because I am one and have a lot of passion for the care of them). There aren't that many schools offering social work master degree programs around me, what are my options, also can anyone tell me what a Medical Social Worker deals with? I'm looking either at being a social worker or counselor, any info or relevant experience in either field would be nice to hear from! Thank you!!!

I injured my shoulder on the job due to repetitive stress. I worked at a grocery store. They tell me that maybe I should find a new job, the doctor says it is unlikely I will be going back to work, and that even after surgery, which I should be having soon, this will affect me for life. I have been out for months now. Should I start looking into a new career? And if so, how? I pay rent, I take care of myself, and I can't afford to go to school without an income, and where could I work with one arm? Should I look into trade school? Or should I just go to our local junior college? I want to be able to support myself, and a family in the future, I want to set myself up nicely...but I am so lost and alone here lol, can anyone offer me some advice? I like computers, if that helps, I like a lot of different things...maybe I should go play guitar on the street corner with a bucket to collect tips.

I talked to the manager of a decent japanese restaurant and asked if I could work in the establishment. He was quick to say yes and it shocked me. He told me that I will start this Friday. He explained the uniform code that i should follow and set me up with a mentor. Because it all went too fast, and it was my FIRST job, i forgot to ask for the hourly wage... I think the manager assumed that I would work for minimum wage, which is what $6.67(FL)? I was expecting more of around $7.50 per hour. What should i do/say and when is the best time to do it?

I am asking for a friend, as they say! I actually am. She has been of work for about 2 months and is being paid short term disability through her insurance policy at work. A friend of hers told her she may be forced to pay back any wages she received if she quits. Her doctors have not released her to go back to work after a surgery she had, so she has a legitimate excuse. Any ideas of the consequences, if any??

I am a good person but I don't feel anyone sees me as "good" anymore. Any advice???

I didn't start any school yet...so kind of fresh out of high school, I got accepted into this private college in San Diego, CA for RN, (again, no prior college exp.) and found out that the classes are non-transferable. would that mean that if I were to go after my BSN afterwards somewhere else (non private hopefully due to expense), I would have to take all the gen. ed again? OR...since I have my ADN already, I can just apply at any RN-BSN program?..I know this may be a really dumb question but I need some help fast! any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I want to be a doctor, but I also want to be a businessman. I realize that this is typical for someone thinking about what to do, but I feel locked in that I want to be both of them.

Would it be realistic to become a doctor while managing businesses? (restaurants, clubs, etc.)

Or, should I become soley a doctor or business man. Which one would you prefer?

Hey, basically my job description was very misleading - it implied a very extensive, interesting range of tasks which make use of my skills, but instead this student office job consists of inputting numbers into spreadsheets and cellotaping bits of paper.

Recently, I had a random task added to my daily duties which involves collecting garbage and cleaning at some rubbish depot on site. I was shocked as although this job needs to be done, it should not be my responsibility and I find it quite demoralizing as my managers know i've been wanting some more challenging/helpful responsibilities in the office.

Also, a few people who have been there longer but still have the exact same position as me and work with me have not been given this job. My manager also refused to allow me to do some over-time in another of his departments.

What are my rights? This was not on the job offer/description I signed.

the interview went well, i had 1 interview with the manager, and she told me to come back for a 2nd interview with the GM, the GM told me she wanted a 2nd interview because I wouldn't really open up.. both interview's went fairly well... the reason i didnt open up is because they didn't ask me questions... the GM mainly just told me about how things work and the main focus is pleasing the customer's... he asked me when I could start.. what pay I wanted... what hour's i wanted to work.. if I was going too school.. everything seemed to be good, he told me to call him in 2days if he didnt hear from me because i was one of 3 people they were interviewing, and they are hiring 2, he said he couldnt find a fault in me, so i asked do i need to quit looking for a job, he said no.. keep looking you may find something better... but he also pointed out that wasnt his way of shutting me down, he was looking for my bes interest.. what do you think? is the job mine... its for a front-desk job
