When people are explaining things to me, I get agitated and worry if I will do it properly. It depends on how they say it. If they go too fast and put pressure on me, they seem to panic me. Even when I take it slow, they tell me to hurry up which panics me more. When they go too slow and treat me like there is something wrong with me, I feel like an idiot and get annoyed. Other people, however have a calming influence on me and go at the right speed and I learn and powere ahead. Am I stupid?

I find most people from the cities put more pressure on you and go about tasks faster. Where as people where I come from generally are more relaxed about things.

This is affecting how I learn because I can't learn quickly around some types of people. Am I stupid? I am not a slow learner, I just need to feel comfortable about what I am doing.
Sometimes I can work under pressure but I never feel comfortable about it. Am I normal?

I want to be a fashion designer or something along the lines of that. I am in high school how can I develop skills to help me in this. I am thinking about attending FIDM ( Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) my mom does not want me to do this because she does not think the fashion industry is safe. What do you think? She is starting to scare me about it. Of all these campusus which one do you think might be the safest. Los Angles, San Diego, San Fransisco, or Orange County. And one more thing my mom says that you have to have sex with the owner of a fashion design company to get a good job with that company. Is she right. I dont think so. But I dont really know for sure.

I am thinking about going into the law profession.
I think I will specialize in family and school law.
I really want to be able to live confortably with my family, and be able to provide for them.
Is a lawyer a good career choice?

Currently, I am a junior studying economics at Syracuse. Once I graduate I plan to move to NYC to become a financial analyst at an investment bank. I will spend about 4-5 yrs in that industry before going back to school for my MBA. Also plan on getting my CFA destinction during that time.

My question is whether this is a feasible career path? Is it realistic that I can work the intensive hours as an analyst, study for the GMAT and CFA exams, and have a personal life? Do most I-bankers who get their MBA get all three levels of the CFA before going back to school?

Wondering what people think is the best temp agency in DFW? I'm going to go to one tomorrow and I've checked a few and not sure where to go! I've been hearing mixed reviews of almost every place... I've gone to some of the sites and see only a few jobs posted and all the jobs they have posted are like SR level Accounting, which I don't know...

Any agency you've had a good experaince with would be great...

I'm looking for something in IT or as an Admin Assistant. I've tried the looking for a job on my own thing and the gap in my work history to start my family and move to Texas is killing my chances at every job I go to :( I can't work for less then 12.00 and hour at the bare minimum so a few of the temp agencies that I've found on my Google search are out of the question because they don't pay enough...

Thanks for the help in assisting a Mom in finding a job :-D

OH yeah, I'm NOT bi-lingual either so keep that in mind when answering :-)

Ok, I'm kind of a math brain but I do have other abilities. Right now I'm going to be a sophomore getting my BS in computer engineering. I got a great internship this summer and I realized how much I do not want a career in engineering. It's just not something I see myself enjoying.
I'm a person who likes simple things, I'm creative but have no special talents, I like staying fit and can be a health nut and I'm a very smart girl. I'm pretty shy, I hate presentations and all that networking b/s. I want a respectable job but I don't have to make millions. I know I can do whatever I put my mind to - I'm just looking for something pretty interesting to do with my life.

I know it might sound like I'm asking for a dream job.. but I'll take any suggestions. So far I have physical therapist on mind.. anything you can think of?

So far, I've been in retail and restaurants...serving has been really, really good money-wise and is probably the the highest $/hour that I've ever had. I was wondering if there are any other suggestions besides being a waitress for making some good money while going to college full time?

What are the chances of getting a job after a second interview? I sent a thank you letter afterwards, presented a writing sampleand job references they asked for. I waited a week and called for a follow up, the recruiter told me they will be making decisions soon and she will contact me. What are the chances of getting this job?

I applied to Dennys about a week ago, maybe a little earlier, but I still havent recieved a phone call scheduling an interview or anything like that. I was wondering what I'm supposed to do, because this is my first job and I dont know how long stuff like this is supposed to take. Also, do I need to take a resume to the interview? If so, can someone post a template for a resume for a regular summer job. No resume templates for full time jobs please

Why is superficial, unimportant, irrelavant BS deemed the main stay of professionalisim by dumb bosses at the expense of whats really needed.

ie the anal almost hysterical panic and fear of an employee quickly answering a mobile phone call.

When the phone is on silent, when no customers are near them, when not busy, maybe nobody in the shop or say with promo work out in the field?

Who cares? the public dont they all use mobile phones themselves and as long as not kept waiting when they need assistance could not give a monkeys and a typical call would be 30 seconds of less. Hardly a massive work stopping time.

Or text bit by bit...

Whats the big deal especailly as promo work is odd days here or there and if you dont answer straight away you may miss out on work for the rest of the week.

Plus love it that these same companies insist on it being easy to contact you at all times.

Even better if you are all over the place and you need to contact your supervision.

Can an employer -

1) Demand you see a MD because they think you are ill?
2) Force you to go on disability if you refuse?

My friend's boss thinks she has neurological problems and says if she isn't seen by a physician, they will force her to go on disability.

The MD has declared her perfectly healthy, but is this even legal?

Also, they are making her use her vacation time to cover the time off to see the MD. Can they do that?

Isn't this harrassment?

I have an assistant who started in Feb. of this year. She worked really well up until around June 1, right about the time she had her last review, which was excellent, and receiving a significant raise with bonuses. Since then she has been late, doesn't take initiative, complains about little things, and ahs become critical.
My question is for employers out there, do you see a drop in performance after a good review or a raise? If so, what are steps to take to get your employee back on track.

In a professional environment, what's a good way to close e-mails? I use "Thank you," followed by my name, but what about the cases where there's nothing to be thanking the recipient for? "Regards," is a good one, but my supervisor uses it, and I don't want to seem like I'm emulating her.

All 4 kids will be in school come August which means after 10 years of being at home I can finally get a job. Wherein lies the problem. I would like to be self-employed because I think I will have a hard time finding a job where I will be able to be off when school is out. I have tried to work at the school (crazy lunchroon lady) but there are no openings. I don't trust my self to drive a bus. (bad vision) So anybody out there have an unusual job that would work with my schedual? I've tried the surveys and I HATE cashcrate, treasuretrooper and those other sites. Thanks for your input!!
I have also tried cleaning houses in the past. I put out notices but with no response and after 10 years I would rather not babysit in my home.
