Not very much. You should do some Internet research on food service jobs to see how much these people would make in the long run.
You know these jobs don't make much when you see that there are college students working as waiters and waitresses.
If you are a student, then it's an awesome part-time job for you. If you're looking for full-time work, you're better off looking elsewhere.

Not enough to feed a family. While it may keep you in beer if you are studying it is hardly a career. (Can be fun, though)

It depends on your age. Older gets more obviously.
But my sister is a waitess and she makes $16AUD p/h.
