Why is superficial, unimportant, irrelavant BS deemed the main stay of professionalisim by dumb bosses at the expense of whats really needed.

ie the anal almost hysterical panic and fear of an employee quickly answering a mobile phone call.

When the phone is on silent, when no customers are near them, when not busy, maybe nobody in the shop or say with promo work out in the field?

Who cares? the public dont they all use mobile phones themselves and as long as not kept waiting when they need assistance could not give a monkeys and a typical call would be 30 seconds of less. Hardly a massive work stopping time.

Or text bit by bit...

Whats the big deal especailly as promo work is odd days here or there and if you dont answer straight away you may miss out on work for the rest of the week.

Plus love it that these same companies insist on it being easy to contact you at all times.

Even better if you are all over the place and you need to contact your supervision.

Unless you are a bomb squad technicial phone

Then we have things like creative hair styles such as spikey, coloured ones, maybe dead locks, maybe pink etc.

How on earth does that affect what work you do?

Not exactly going to affect your typing speed, ability to do surgery, fix a computer, and say with promo work its likley to help as attract attention and get people talking.

Same with the odd tattoo. As long as not covered head to toe that really wont affect professionialisim as it cannot get in the way.

As a customer what I care about is

CAN YOU DO THE JOB I NEED OR KNOW YOUR STUFF.

FAR RATHER SOMONE GOOD AT IT, FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGABLE AND PREPARED THEN A DUMBASS IN A SUIT.

The only problem professionalisim wise with long hair etc is cooking, with machiney, painting or medical care... all pretty much a safety issue.

How about the odd piecing... unless you are a electricain whats the prob it can end up in food.... None of that in an office

Suit the deemed necessity for professionalisim

What practical use is a stupid outfit which cant regulate your temperate properly so freezing in winter, hot in summer, can't be cleaned easily, & easily damaged, overly expensive, no trouser pockets for gadgets or tools, with a tie designed to land in dinner or equipment.

And relationships at work.

Look, if you behave ie no favouritisim whats the prob... so two employees occasionaly kiss or paw.

Easy for bosses to get cheap ,motivation... do your quota, 10 mins in the broom cupboard.

or just position them in diff departments.

With things like two teachers... so the kids tease you for a week, after that, jokes boring and you get accpeted like any other couple.

*************************

REAL UNPROFESSIONISIM OFTEN COMES FROM THE BOSS.

IE NOT TRAIING STAFF PROPERLY, LEAVEING THEM POORLY EQUIPED, CUTTING SAFETY CORNERS.

STUPID STUFF LIKE. NOT GETTING LOCATION PERMISSION

FOR A PROMOTION SO SAY YOU ARE TARGETTING PEOPLE BY TRAFLAGAR SQUARE.

YOU CANT PUT YOUR VAN ANYWHERE NEAR.

Or your staff turns up on location and the leaflets are not there.

Or staff cant answer customer enquires as you wont let them learn.

How about you have a lucky dip for the public and 1/4 of the prizes are for alcohol when lots of kids are around.

Promo staff turn up at a location and the manager has not been preinformed.

Incorrect location directions are given out.

Heavey jobs given to little people and the smart jobs given to the big but dumb staff.

How about not listening to your staff on the ground or creating a climate of job loss fear so people dont tell you the truth.

all that is whats really unprofessional

Most shops are run by morons who can only just keep the place running from day to day by some accidental miracle and spend every waking moment in the absolute FEAR that their workers will do something to bring the whole house of cards crashing around their ears ..

Maybe you should live on the streets. You're not one who needs to be on the work force. Seen a psychiatrist?
