I have been working for a small commercial printing business for almost 3 months. They have 18 full time employees, some have been there over 20 years. I am getting $14/hr and I know that they are being charged $21/hr from the temp service. They asked me what I wanted to get paid when hired. I told them I needed some time because there are a couple things I need to take into consideration. 1. They will offer me health benefits and they pay the full amount, which for my family would be atleast $1000/month, I don't need those because my husband carries our health insurance--therefore when I take that into account health benefits are equal to $5.77/hr. Also, I know that raises are very few and far in between. I am basically their office manager, human resource person, accts. payable & receivable, and of course payroll, and everything else. I would like to get $20/hr. But I know that seems a little steep. Please give some honest opinions. Also what will they be charged?

I would like to know more about becoming a midwife. I don't want to get a nursing degree first however. Can anyone help me out with this. I really want to do this and I will go through the typical nursing program if I have to; I was just wondering if there was another way. Thank You!!!

For instance, let's say that you own 100 shares of American Express stock. And let's say that you want to work for PriceWaterhouseCoopers - which is a big accounting firm in the United States. Let's also say that American Express is a client of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Will you have to sell all of your American Express stock before you can be a PriceWaterhouseCoopers employee?

What happens to us fresh graduate nurses who find it tough to apply in hospitals due to the increasing number of nurses and no vacancies esp. here in the Philippines? What happens even if we have the US exams but no experience? In every job, we all start as a rookie right? So why need experience, when US hospitals still train newly hired nurses, foreign or locals? I know they want to hire experienced nurses to give the best care service for their patients. But even a rookie can give the same or even better care service than the experienced. Experience should be a preference, not a requirement. Give opportunity to us inexperienced to prove we can provide care and services to US patients even without a hospital experience here in the Philippines.

How do you answer the question, "How do you plan and organize your work?" I get that question all the time. I know what my answer is, but I would like to hear other peoples answers. Information is knowledge. Thanks!

How should I hand in my resume along with my cover letter? Do I just staple them together and give it in or what? Or do I get a three ring folder and hole punch my resume and cover letter?

I'm helping my Dad make up a new resume. He has worked for the same place for 13 1/2 years. The job before this last one has nothing to do with the jobs he is applying for now. About 20 or more years ago he had a job in the industry that he is applying for now. Should he put some place he worked 20 years ago on there. He has plenty of experience, but he has always stayed with the same company for such a long time. Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks

My friend's boss demanded that she give her cell phone number, and said that was in case when she was not at work (off the clock) and they want to call to tell her to do something when she gets into the office, so she can. Also she wants her to give it out to company clients for the same reason. So far she has said "no", and her boss told her this could lead to dismissal. And no, the company will not be paying any part of her cell phone bill, since it is her personal phone. (State of NJ, by the way, if that makes any difference.)

What would the person have to look like, act like for you as a hirer to feel threatened by them, extremely uncommunicative, etc.., or to simply not like the person?
want out as quick as possible when they come in for an interview? And makes them want to lie about a position being open or not, and be vague about who does the hiring and throw them off on how to contact them, and embarrass and humiliate in front of everyone else in the restaurant?
