How do you answer the question, "How do you plan and organize your work?" I get that question all the time. I know what my answer is, but I would like to hear other peoples answers. Information is knowledge. Thanks!

Each morning I first quickly scan anything new that has come my way to see if something need my em mediate attention.

I have notes on everything I need to do. (I use a computer)

I keep a perpetual "TO DO" list. I add every task , I then separate every task into one of four categories. 1. Thing I need to do today, 2. Need to do within the next few days, 3. Things I need to do in the next two weeks and 4. Things I need to do someday. I then sort the list from Most Important to least.

After lunch, I check my TO DO list to remind myself of today's priorities and re-classify any task that have become more urgent or less urgent.

Eventually things in one category will need to be moved to a higher priority and some things will fall off altogether.

This method used to be called the ABC drawers. Where people used to put the hot items in the top drawer "A", less urgent into "B" and least into drawer "C". IT still works

I look at what the outcome should be and try to divide the task into increments that I can handle. I try to estimate the amount of time it will take to do each part so that I can estimate the amount of time it will take to complete the task. This helps me to know if I am on schedule as I work. Knowing an estimate for the time also helps me to plan on getting help if necessary.

Best wishes to you.

key word: prioritize.

Always do the tasks in order of their priority to maintain productivity - BUT be able to troubleshoot while still maintaining the flow.
