For a job as a typist/audio typist, is it necessary to have a qualification from college? What are the most common kind of software/programmes used, and do men doing this job have to wear suits?

only with some companies its necessary, for the audio typist different companies use different programmes. and again it depends what company u work for concerning the dress code. i think your best bet is to register with a couple of agencies and you can also go onto monster.co.uk where you can register your cv (you can upload a word document cv) and then companies can look at your cv and if they think you are suitable they contact you through thier employment agency. if you need help with your cv let me know im on msn

The most important job criteria for a typist/word processor is:
1) Accurate typing speed in excess of 50 wpms;
2) Have excellent English reading, listening and writing skills;
3) Be proficient in PC-version of Microsoft Word 2003 or WordPerfect for Windows and the whole suite of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
4) Depending on the prominence/placement of the document services location; formal business attire involving a suit and tie on men is usually not a requirement;
5) A legal word processor earns about $55,000 annually at major law firms in Downtown Los Angeles;
6) And the vast majority of training was acquired while on-the-job.

Good luck!

i have been doing that for this year, i have no qualifications in typing but i wa splaced through an agency and had to do a test to record speeds and accuracy. before i got this job i had actually never done audio typing before! i am a woman but no one had to wear a suit. winscibe seems to be common in terms of software.

i have never managed to get a job like this thorugh an internet site i recommend use an agency or through the paper.
