Is it a good idea to tell potential hirers this to establish some kind of understanding and common ground? Restaurant / bar buisiness.

I think it is absolutely none of the managers business. Some private things should be kept private.

The only question an employer or potential employer is allowed to ask is if a disability will in anyway prevent you from perfroming the duties of the position you are appling for or are in currently. Otherwise I'd say make no mention of it. It should be a non-issue.

I don't see any reason you would need to disclose this unless the manager comments on your wearing 'too much' make-up or something like that.
