This is probably a stupid question, but I wanted some clarification... If a company advertises and hires you to work for 60K a year salary doing whatever kind of work, does that mean they'll pay you 60K for the year(divided monthly and bi-weekly), or will that 60K then be taxed, so you'll make about 45K depending on taxes? Or are you really making over 60K but after taxes, that's what it amounts to? Thanks.

I am interseted in starting a course to work in a mortuary. I am after anyone who already does so, and where they went for work experience. I've heard a lot about having to do a year's fulltime voluntary work (that is if you're lucky to be accepted) before you are taken on as a paid trainee I am considering writing to the local hosp. mortuary's and asking to be put on their files for part-time voluntary work. But i'm interested in chatting to anyone else in that field or considering it. THanks

Last week I was doing my job at work, when a co-worker I never had meet started to yell at me and tell me I was doing my job wrong. I explained to her that this is how I was trained, she then kept yelling so I asked her to please talk to me in a more pleasant tone. She didn't listen and kept yelling at me. I started to feel like crap and just couldn't believe someone I never met before was yelling and demening me this way. As I was walking out I turned to a manager and asked him "Why is she being such a ***** to me?" He just said "I don't know". She then came around the corner and said, "I'm not being a *****?" I said "You are being very rude to me and I don't appriciate you speaking to me in the tone you are, you could be a little calmer and more nice." She then said she was just doing her job. I had to just walk away. The next day I found out I was fired because I used the word *****. Is there anything I should do?

I think it sounds like a great job, and I'd love to get into it. I worked at Subway when I was in high school and I remember a lady coming in that was a secret shopper (she told me after I rang her up). Does anyone out there do this? And if so, what company do you work with?

On the 3rd of May 2007 I was hired at Wal-Mart in Cedar Hill, Tx. I was excited due to the fact that this would be my first real job. After answering job related questions and submitting a background check, I was ready to learn what position would I be doing. Cashier was my hope and joy, but it came crumbling down as soon as I heard "cart pusher". WTF! I'm 20. 6 FOOT 1, and have a 4.0 GPA and I'm a cart pusher? I seriously do not even remember selecting cart pusher as a choice. Cashier was my ONLY choice, mainly due to my knowledge of noticing how cashiers act like they do not want to be at work and almost never smiling. My plan was to do what cashiers never did: Make the customer feel like they are welcomed. I also found out that before I was a part of the C.P. crew, they had only 5 Part-time pushers at that Wal-Mart. Many quit due to not getting respect from no one at all. Cart pushers are from what I've seen are mentally challenged, anti-social or the elderly. I'm none of these.

I graduated from college one year ago with a bachelor degree in finance. I live in the city. Right after graduation, I was extremely picky about employment, so I chose not to follow up with certain companies(2 wks before graduating). Right after graduation, I did an internship that didn't work out. The guy I was working with stole client information from his former employer to build up his own independant company. So I left. I continued looking for work on www.careerbuilder.com. I became discouraged around late September and stopped searching for about 2 wks. I found a seasonal job, and worked full time and overtime. after the seasonal job, i stopped searching until march. Right now I am still unemployed and depressed. I try to stay hopeful but i'm losing hope. What should i do as a plan B? I was thinking maybe dentistry school or becoming an actuary? What do you think?

my boss has good and bad side, he is humourous, down to earth most of time, but he MUST win every arguments, i often feel deflated after talking to him, because i feel so 'stupid' since he is so 'right' about everything. Because his need to win everything, he has made me lose a big sale last week, when i explain my frustration to him, he told me that its all my fault that i 've lost the deal, he has nothing to do with it, he doesn't care about our relationship etc, i cried and feel very unappreciated, he has everything to do with the deal i've lost, because he insisted some optional documents to be signed by a client, even after i've told him the client would bail, he refuse to listen (i met the client 2 times he has never met the client), we lose the sale. What should i do with this normally nice boss but 'arrogant and argumentative' at the same time?

Is "Office Coordinator" a good job title for a person who works in a small law office (four people) supervising all administrative functions such as: recordkeeping, banking, billing, problem solving, database maintenance, office supplies? What is a better title? Is Legal Adminisrator better or worse? We are thinking Office Manager is too grandiose for such a small office.
